Barclays Premiership
4 February, 2007
KO: 16:00
White Hart Lane

-----------------------Van Der Sar-------------------
-Neville-----Ferdinand----------------Vidic-------Evra
Ronaldo------Scholes----------------Carrick-----Giggs
-------------Rooney-----------------Larsson---------

Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, Heinze, Park, Saha (Solskjaer)

0-3 Scholes, Giggs, Saha

^

That's the line-up I'd go with.

1-2 Larsson, Carrick, Keane

--------VDS------------------
Neville-----Rio---Vidic---Heinze
Ronaldo--Carrick--Scholes--Giggs
---------Rooney---Saha----

Heinze ahead of Evra because this is an away fixture and white heart lane is a tough plane to go to. We need to be assured defensively. Saha to give up more pace up front.

Im never worried about this game because we always seem to win (im fully aware ive proberly jinxed it now) but i see the trend continuing with a narrow looking 1-2 win

My predicted team is

GK: VdS

RB: Neville
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra (he's better suited to dealing with Lennon IMO)

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
LM: Giggs

CF: Rooney
CF: Larsson (presuming Saha is injured)

Larsson and Giggs to score for us, Jenas to score for them (he always scores against us  )

VDS; Neville, Rio, Vidic, Evra; Park, Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo; Rooney, Larson;

I choose Park over Giggs just because he knows how Lee is defending. last year he outplayed his pal from NT and that gave us the victory.

That's the team, except i think that saha might be in for larsson.

also, i think that 0-3 is a tad optimistic. they have been stung by losing against arsenal and will be looking to produce a response.

i think we can edge it by virtue of the fact that we have a fresh squad of players whilst they were taken all the way into extra time.

but they will be a different proposition if lennon and berbatov are back. without berbatov, jol has played 4-5-1 with defoe getting very isolated. without lennon their game becomes very narrow. berba and lennon are the danger men IMO.

tough game this is going to be - especially as they got knocked out yesterday to le arse

im going with a 2-0, hopefully a clean sheet but i think they might just sneak one

rooney giggs

VDS
Gaz Rio Vida Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Giggs
Rooney Saha

1-3
Ronaldo, Rooney (2)
Jenas

Evra should be back to take on lennon.

yeah, his pace will be vital in handling lennon. as much as i love heinze, he could take a raping against such pace.

That should be the team. Hopefully Saha's fit enough to be atleast on the bench.

We always seem to beat spurs away and probably their 3 best players are out (king, berbatov, lennon) so an optomistic 0-2. Rooney to carry on his mini streak and giggsy to chip in as well, with gary neville hurting his big toe in the 5th minute and some fat bloke getting a pie at half time.

the way spurs played against arsenal id be dissapointed if we dont win this one. im going for 0-2. ronaldo and rooney

Not necassarily, when up against superior pace stick tight and tackle early. With Heinze superior stamina at least he wont fade late on whereas Evra has a tendency to do that as demonstrated a couple of times this season.

0-4 tough game on paper but i reckon we'll send a message to chelski!

---------------VDS----------------
----Neville---Rio---Vidic---Evra-----
Ronaldo---Carrick---Scholes---Giggs
-----------Saha---Rooney---------

Bench: Kuzz, Heinze, Fletcher, Larsson, Park.

1-2. Rooney, Saha.

I'd go with Heinze over Evra. personally. He looks more solid defensively..

This is the type of game where Heinze would be better suited in my opinion. I don't expect us to goto White Heart Lane and boss the possession... Tottenham seem to be pretty dangerous offensively at home. If our Left back spot is left as open as it usually is with Evra pushing up we could be in trouble with Lennon there to exploit it.

Think this is going to be a tough one for us.

I'll go with a 3-2 win. I'm nervous about this one though.

Its maybe not a case of stamina, maybe just because evra is up and down all game? Just a thought....

No Heinze has the greater stamina, Evra the better sprint speed - Heinze pace is more consitent throughout the match irrespective of what hes doing, Evra is quicker for the first hour or so and more danger offensively and then begins to fade.

By very definition the better sprinter you are the worse endurance athlete you are and vice versa.

So says the pro...

Saha back for Sunday

United striker Louis Saha could be called upon for Sunday’s crucial visit to White Hart Lane after overcoming a knee injury.

The 28-year-old forward has been in and out of action in recent weeks, but missed the 2-1 FA Cup win over Portsmouth and the 4-0 Premiership victory against Watford with a minor knock.

However, United’s second-top goalscorer this season should be back in action against Spurs in the first of seven vital away matches before the end of the season.

“We should have Louis back for the match against Tottenham,” Sir Alex told MUTV.

“He started full training wityh us on Wednesday so he should be ready for Sunday.”

After Spurs, United face Fulham, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City away from home.

Start with Larsson, bring on Saha later.

If Saha is fit, I say give him 65 minutes and then bring Larsson on. Henrik doesn't have more than 30 minutes in the tank from what I've seen.

We shall need to play the best players we have.

I'd go with:

VDS
Nev-Ferdinand-Vida-Evra
Ron-Carrick-Scholes-Giggs
Roo-Saha

Subs: Kuszczak, Heinze, O'Shea, Park, Larsson.

i can see where you are coming from, but with someone as dangerous as lennon there is always the possibility he will skin heinze once or twice - and the effects could be disasterous for us. i'd feel more confident of evra matching up with lennon.

if evra was lagging, could always bring gaby on.

gaby looks a little rusty too - not surprising in light of how little he has featured lately.

incidentally, i don't feel that there is a great deal between heinze and evra and just think that if heinze got a run in the team, we would see the best of him again.

Seems almost certain that Saha will start against Spurs, ill back him to score if he does
