it's not like he was substituted for poor performance! So there is no need to be disappointed for him. It's good he wanted to stay on the pitch but no ill feeling... We were 3 up when he's off.

Ferguson reveals Rooney is doubt for Spain game

Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Wayne Rooney, who was replaced by Louis Saha in the 64th minute, is doubtful for England's friendly with Spain on Wednesday.


The United boss said: 'Wayne was injured in a challenge, he was limping about for a bit so I had to take him off. We'll assess him in the morning but he may be doubtful for Wednesday.

'Edwin has broken his nose, there was a lot of blood so he had to come off.'

He was full of praise for emergency goalkeeper O'Shea and the dynamic Ronaldo.

'The players are all signing John's jersey in there. It was fantastic. We were in a comfortable position but you never know. He did very well.'

'Ronaldo was fantastic. The boy has come on great, he's got a courage to play and always wants the ball. In the early part of the match I thought he was a bit careless but he got more of the ball and was more comfortable. He's not the kind of player who can play on the fringes......
 
Rooney joked with Fergie on the bench. He's only injured because there's a meaningless friendley coming up surely...
