 at some putting Evans at LB even though he's never played there for us and would offer even less than O'Shea going forward.

Draw.

Do you feel safe playing O'Shea at LB ? What mistakes would Evans make that O'Shea wouldn't.

And Evans has played LB for country.

Those calling for Evans to play at left baffle me. The whole 'problem' with O'Shea is that he is 'rubbish' going forward, according to many anyway. What makes you think a young CB who has played at LB for his country, when the onus was on defending, would be any better?

With Evra out suspended, O'Shea is quite simply the best alternative we have at the moment!

The problem with O'Shea us at times he's a liability in defense. That could be down to lack of games or simply not being good enough. Either way Evans deserves a chance in that position.

To be honest Rahul i wouldn't expect anything but negatives for O'Shea to come from you anyway.

Correct Evans has played LB for his country and never ventured out of his own half (in the 2 games i saw). Playing LB for United is a different matter. You're expected to influence the game in the opposition half as well, something O'Shea has more experience in.

In fairness all he said was that Evans wouldn't offer much going forward which could be true.

Yup.

Agree.

He can pass a ball and has good distribution.

Decent distribution does not make a good fullback. Knowing when and how to get forward to support your winger is much more important, and is something O'Shea is almost definitely better at. I've never seen Evans attacking, so i could not say for sure, but there is nothing to suggest he would be better going forward than O'Shea. O'Shea's experience in the position suggests he is though.

As for O'Shea being a liability in defence, i just don't see that. To me he is a solid fullback. No more, no less.

At times this season he has been. I rate O'Shea, I like his attitude. But that shouldn't blind us when a player is out of form. I'd still pick Evans ahead of O'Shea personally just because Spurs will come at us and I'd want my best defenders playing. You defend 1st, attack 2nd.

Care to explain why? His tackling and strength has impressed me, and I remember an interview where he said he enjoyed playing left back so he could emulate his idol Roberto Carlos. I would be VERY surprised if he played left back on Saturday, but I still think he could do a decent job there.

NO

We are United, offcourse Attacking is 1st proirity then Defending. (Attack is the best form of denfense)

And we are playing against Tottenham not Barca

Getting in positions and then having the ability to do nothing with it e.g. the inability to pass does not make a good fullback either. At least Evans will be able to find a team mate with the same colour shirt and that he also has more technical ability and will find it easier to keep the ball.

As for O'Shea being a liability in defence, well didn't you see yesterday's game? With no Wes Brown at right back, we lack more balance defensively and I would personally prefer Evans who is better defensively and can at least pass a ball to a player on the same team. It would also take more pressure off Ferdinand/Vidic which is much needed.

Can't go all attack on this with, Spurs are looking like a team with bite. People such as myself have him as a LB because it'd essentially be a 3 man defense allowing our young Brazilian all the space he wants to rampage down the right and get crosses in without much consequence as Rio or Vidic or Evans would shift over. The 3 CBs staying put would be more than enough to hold the general attacks that'll be the Russian and Bent, with Park hussling back to help the defense and Anderson slotting above, defense is perfectly fine. Plus Rio is starting to play like a Lucio making runs in from defense and not afraid to attack so this'll let him have some fun.

O'Shea has just looked weak as a defender and weak as a striker. We're not asking Evans be some great LB because O'Shea isn't and it's only for a game or two, different opponents need different formations/ players. For this game, it'll be great. Doubt it'll happen, I see a 4-5-1 if I'm being honest if Berbatov is out, if not it'll be 4-4-2...

I wouldn't mind seeing Evans at left back but I don't think it will happen. Fergie tends to go for experience and it could also dent O'Shea's confidence.

If Evra is suspended 4 Spurs, Why he did not take part against Alborg ?

Maybe to give O'Shea some game time at LB in preparation for when he's covering Evra?

Injury concerns over duo

Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov face a race against time to be fit for Saturday's trip to Tottenham, but Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be involved.

Ronaldo missed Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Aalborg because of the hip injury sustained during last weekend's victory over Sunderland.

Carrick and Berbatov also sat out the Reds' final Champions League group game at Old Trafford and doubts remain over their fitness ahead of Saturday's tea-time visit to their former club.

"Berbatov and Carrick are the main worries," Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV.

"I'm sure Ronaldo will be okay. His hip is still a bit tender, but hopefully he'll be back."

ManUtd.com will bring you the latest injury news from the manager's press conference on Friday morning.

If evans is not going to be played at LB then play anderson there!!! He's got the strength, the pace and tackling to handle Lennon and he's played there before.

Eh?

Is that a fact or is that just to do with the thing he said about wanting to play like Roberto Carlos?

He can pass a ball and has good distribution.

He offers feck all going forward.

I personally think he's a better defender than O'Shea though.

But he's no better than O'Shea going forward, makes much less of an effort to even bother.

You must be having a piss-take, with all injured/suspended players included! ;)

Unreal the way everyone is going on about Aaron fecking Lennon.

O'shea is easily capable of dealing with him.

Its Aaron Lennon for feck sake! He's shite.
