Do you understand the obvious statistical flaw of bucketing signings from another regime to paint a narrative under INEOS? There's mental gymnastics and then there's at clutching more straws than a masturbating strawman.

“Credible journalists” the amount of crap they have spewed could fill up the grand canyon.

Sure they more “credible” than the other asswipes out there but they are wrong plenty of times.


What is more likely the credible journalists are talking shit or out of all the defenders and strikers in the world by pure chance we just happen to be interested in Joshua and De Ligt?

Wait, so just so I have this clear. We have Athletic saying INEOS have suggested De Ligt, and you are saying "nope, this is driven by Ten Hag, I just know it". That's about right? This probably isn't the best threat to have the sub debate so lets draw a line - but generally you're speaking out of your arse.

Zirkzee has no connection with Ten Hag outside of being from the same nation. Ugarte has no relevance to Ten Hag and nor does Branthwaite. Only one signing has history with Ten Hag and he's seemingly 3rd choice in our center back following - behind Yorro and Todibo, who guess what, have no relevance to Ten Hag.

But yes, lets ignore Athletic and go by what you think, because we had Ten Hag driving signings in a completely different regime so he must be doing the same here. Even though that's reported to not be the case, lets bury our head in the sand and peddle the narrative that we like to believe. Go for it.

He is an excellent tactician who is burdened with bad players not suited to his style of play.

Hence he or anyone for that matter would prefer players he knows and will be easier to bed in, in terms of tactics.

Also there's no proof of him having the final word on de ligt. If the player fits the profile, is available for a decent price, experienced and if he has played under ETH, that's a bonus. Not everything has to be a conspiracy.

Players not being first choice at their clubs and having been quality before can resurrect their careers at a different club. Players life De Bruyne, Salah are decent examples of that.

What difference does tomorrow make? There's no rule preventing clubs from agreeing transfers in June (or earlier) only to be made effective July 1.

He did. It takes time to get the ball rolling, we started decently with it in
22-23 till the carling cup win and took two steps back last season.

A great manager also can have a bad season. Nothing impossible about it.

I am hoping he gets going from the start this season with the right management above him.

500th player, you’ve just previously posted 50th… it’s the sort of things kids would say. It’s really ease to say you have an issue with Ten Hags influence in transfers and/or the links to Dutch/Dutch league players without sounding silly.

And if you think Ornstein talks rubbish, you just look even sillier… he’s literally the one journalist almost every fan listens to.

Ten Hags renegotiated contract will mean he has less influence… be happy.

Every manager does. What manager would prefer to recruit guys they've never worked with over players they have if they're good enough? De ligt isn't mediocre though?

No one's saying de ligt is the best out there, he's the best based on availability and price.

That's the point though. It's an inefficient recruitment model and a big reason our ROI with transfers has been dreadfully low since SAF retired. Managers aren't scouts, and shouldn't be expected to be.

I get that when we're talking about your Amrabaats, Antony's and the like. It just doesn't track when it's De ligt, because two of the biggest clubs in Europe have rated him, so it's likely a scenario where everyone's happy. Quite like if we signed De Jong.

I think people are wrongly assuming Ten Hag is orchestrating this because he managed him. When it's more likely he is available, at a decent price and the recruitment rates him.

That’s a different argument to be fair, I wasn’t talking about De Ligt specifically but this model of hiring from your previous links. It’s an inefficient strategy of needlessly minimising the pool you’re hiring from and I’ll die on this hill.

Coming to De Ligt, I don't think people have watched him enough recently, reckon he’s just riding his old hype.

Depends on the price Bayern want for him, not sure if any figures have been released yet.
Would welcome an addition like that and hope he stays injury free but would prefer someone with more pace to partner Martinez, I would have even asked Varane to stay another year on reduced wages so we could have a good backup.

Lot of fairly reliable reports suggest we're going to be paying less than they paid for him - 67m euros, which is around £57m. That's already cheaper than Branthwaite, Guehi and the like.

At that price it’s worth going for it. Worst case we won’t lose much on the resale if things don’t go according to plan. Plenty of experience as well and would be a welcome addition.
