Barcelona are indeed run by clowns atm but the stance on cantera players, for me, is appropriate considering the poaching that goes on for these same players. That being said, I hope very much that Bellerin is not signed and an alternative is sought, like Semedo.

I appreciate that point of view with regards to cantera players. They were all nicked from Barca for peanuts, can't blame Barca for going after them aggressively.

It's the result of the inconsistency in labor laws by country (Perhaps Brexit will impact that, not sure) but should be tempered by the fact that those same cantera players can eventually push for a return if that's what they want (i.e. Pique), if not the pursuit is not only unwarranted but illogical.

In Hector's case, clear that the player must have expressed to Barcelona a desire to return and in these cases I think players have to make it clear to their club what their intentions are else it's a waste of everyone's time/energy/money - if nothing else, happy to see MD claim there is a 10 day window left to pursue the player. Puts the onus on the player to push for it since Arsenal are not motivated to negotiate and I am hopeful he will fail in this regard
 
Naingollan and Pogba with Herrera at the base would be fantastic. Herrera was outrageous as a defensive mid this year. He is happy playing there and playing every week. He reads the game so well and is so smart at launching counter attacks. It would free up Pogba a bit, but he is a box to box mid that should be involved in the action too. I would love that midfield trio.

Cantera or not these players simply don't belong to you anymore regardless if he was signed from your academy. Bellerin has been at Arsenal since 15 most coaches say the most crucial part of development is between 16-18 so Arsenal have played just as much as part of the development of the player as Barcelona and probably fast forward his progression by including him in the first team.

Barcelona are the same as any other club in football. You want a player then you negotiate the price with the club if you can't come to an agreement because the club aren't selling or won't do a deal at that price then like everyone you move on to your next targets ... don't moan and bring it out publicaly because your Barcelona and have a given right to any player because he played a few years at your academy that's not how it works. Paul Pogba played a few years at United's academy they wanted to bring him back and had to pay full price for it- yes I know the situations are slightly different but the concept is the same.
 
I wouldn't moan about the ethics of signing underage players if I were a Barça fan.

Your club does not have a similar youth setup so there's no point in pretending to understand the difference. Simply put, he's played for Barcelona from childhood and for longer than his current club. Moreover, he was poached. He like any other cantera player is free to make career choices they feel suit their interests best. Feigning ignorance that somehow Arsenal formed this player from 15 (Like Cesc) is laughable - there's a reason why Arsenal keep dipping into the club's cantera, it's cheap and they can profit later from a big sale when the player's quality is not in question.

The MD article is more likely a public stance to motivate the player to push for the move or understand the club will not pursue indefinitely or pay over the barrel for one of their own

Wait, what do you mean poached, in your previous post? Isn't it ultimately the players who decide what to do with their career? If they think they have a future at Barcelona, then they are not obliged to sign for another club, correct? I just don't get why the responsibility is on the "poaching" club since the players clearly make the final decision. Correct me if i am wrong.

Those buy and loan deals make a lot of sense for clubs who have some extra cash. Anderlecht is a good intermediary club where you can fight for titles and earn European experience.
 
City are close to signing Eric Garcia from Barcelonas academy according to twitter. Something around a €2m fee for the 16 year old CB. I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about him.
