West Ham are getting closer to signing Javier Hernandez, who wants £140,000 a week.

But they're trying to structure the deal so his weekly wage is lower but he gets more in bonuses and appearance fees.

Hernandez has got a £13million release clause in his contract at Bayer Leverkusen.

Keita is his first name, he has potential but I'd rather we got Perisic than another player who will go to the AFCON, we will already lose Bailly and Lukaku as it is.

Potential. Doesn't mean anything. Januzaj had lots of potential. Look at how that turned out.

I feel Jose prefers an older winger like Perisic so that Martial can get more chances to play.

Well apparently they wouldn't budge on the €55m asking price, which is about £48m.

Our apparent 'breakthrough in negotiations' appears to be because we have agreed to pay the price they have insisted all along.

Needless to say he's far from a £50m player - he cost Inter about £11m just two years ago, and hasn't gone and been the best player in the league in that time or anything.

Still, he's a good player, and Mourinho's seeming insistence that he must sign Perisič and no other winger (which even makes me doubt this 'he was a secondary option' thing) has to at least warrant a 'let's wait and see' approach. He's never been a 'bad' player anyway, but he's certainly more a Europa League sort of player I think, without that bit extra for a CL contender, at least as a starter. I suspected when linked that his role may be as a LWB, and think this is likely to be for tactical flexibility there.

I know but Balde Keita sounds better. And I see someone pointed out the mistake you made so I won't do it again :lol:
 
I'm assuming it's already been said, but I'd have much preferred Keita Balde to Perisič myself - he has the ability to go to a level above I think.

I'd rather pay less for potential than pay 40plus million for someone who can cross a ball. Not paying attention to potential is why we ended up paying what we did for Pogba

He is better than just being a good crosser tbf, and he is better than Keita Balde too (even if the later may have a higher ceiling)

The muppet in me would rather go and splash more on Sanchez. But we will end up with Perisic anyway so will have to see how he does. But in my eyes we are sign a 6 ft player who can cross a ball.
