Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

It's true that one bad call doesn't make you a bad source. However has Jim White ever called a story for United? I can't think of one. If he was regularly breaking United stories, or even if he'd broken a few I'd put some faith into him but I don't think he's clued in at all for United from what I can remember

Not saying to trust him or not on this call, even though it seems it was broken by Guardian before him anyway. I'm talking in general.

First, Morata's price has been reported by BBC as well, not just sky sports, I think they're the top trusted source present in English football :

Not when it comes to transfer fees.

They quoted an overinflated price that we supposedly paid for Memphis than even the PSV president laughed at.

TBH with you, I don't even remember what was the price we paid for Memphis.

But which source to trust about the fees then ? All sources are saying the deal is rising up to 70m pounds. Sky and BBC reported it's 60m+addons to make it reach 70m. I yet to find any other source claiming any higher fees.

Di Marzio said 80-85 mil euros which lies between 72 and 76 mil.

Point is you can't fully trust anyone.

Except for the Pogba fee where Juventus themselves released the financial breakdown. Still some journalists claimed a different price.

First, fees are always tend to get overestimated before announcing the deal, as with Pogba when it was always reported to be 120m and ended at 105m alone.

Also, if he's true about it being 80m euro, it still near the quoted price in English media : 70m pound. They key point is English media is reported that 70m pounds as the final fees : initial+adds on = 70m overall but the initial is only 60m. I don't think they're contradicting Di Marzio story that much. Maybe he reported the final fees including the adds on as well.

We paid 25m+ pound (included addon) for Memphis. BBC reported it something like 32m pound(supposed to be euro) and never bothered fixing it.

BBC might be the most trustworthy source in England but when it comes to real figure they're just clueless as others.

Oh, the confusion between how to differentiate between writing Pound and Euro then ?

Buying loads of players isn't some sign of genius, it's a sign of awful planning to need to do so much surgery in one go.

Thanks for this post. On point.

People are missing the positives about our situation. We are keeping the team intact while gradually adding relevant additions. We were difficult to beat last season. Next season will be the same plus, we'll be banging in more goals.

Even in euro it was still bloody wrong .

Real number might be less than 20m pound because whatever addons that were, we didn't have to pay it after his pisspoor performance at Old Trafford.

So the safe option is to never trust anyone ? :D

Seeing all these transfers fee now where every Tom, Dick and Harry cost at least 50 millions, I for once am happy that Sir Alex is not our manager anymore. Otherwise, he will not sign anyone because"there is no value in the market"!!!!

Why are these type of players already not at the club with scouting itself. Why do they always land in tottenham. Carrick modric . I hate going to spurs to buy players.
I largely agree but we have tried with the likes of Martial, Depay, Zaha etc but they dont always work out.

Complete and utter bullshit clickbait rumour in the Sunday mirror saying that we're looking at a £60 million bid for Verratti but PSG want Martial in return. If there was even the slightest hint of truth in that rumour, I'd be thinking long and hard about a deal like that. Genuinely would be torn.

I'd take that deal immediately

Wouldn't even have to think about it. Martial's feet wouldn't even touch the ground on the way out the door.

What was the tweet?
It was speculation about Neymar, but since his was father was seen meeting the Barca management in NY people are waiting to hear the results to give further opinion.

Okay thank you.

Like spurs will accept 40 m. He'd want 60 - 65. Wil it be better than?

Certainly it would. At the end of a 4 or 5 year contract Matic will be worth nothing, in fact long before then he'll be one of those highly paid players that we don't use anymore but are struggling to offload. If there were any suggestion that Spurs would sell Dier for £65 million then paying anywhere near £50m for Matic instead would be lunacy of the highest order!

This is a very good signingg from City at a relative decent price. At worst he will be a decent RB backup, at best he can turn out to be better than Walker. He was higher rated at Porto than Alex Sandro, talent is still there, he needs to play though.
