Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

What a boring weekend for tweets ! Considering that most clubs and players are in pre-season I thought we would be in overdrive by now.

It is not a summer for muppets, even the linked targets are not giving me much. Since the Atletico ban, the whole thing went downhill

City not messing around.

Just paying what they need. Woody could learn something.

City have almost unlimited funds for obvious reasons. We are wealthy but it is all self generated and if we start allowing ourselves to pay £50m for the average player we'll soon end up overspending and what wealth we have won't stretch as far. We will have limited resources for reinvestment in infrastructure which will hurt our long term competitiveness.

It's strange (in a sad way) that we have totally gone off the boil in the transfer marker. Hopefully woody and his team are preparing a new strategy and we sign 2 more players quickly.

Certainly it would. At the end of a 4 or 5 year contract Matic will be worth nothing, in fact long before then he'll be one of those highly paid players that we don't use anymore but are struggling to offload. If there were any suggestion that Spurs would sell Dier for £65 million then paying anywhere near £50m for Matic instead would be lunacy of the highest order!

We are not trying to win the PL in four or five years time we need to win it in the next 2 so if jose wants Matic, Ed should get him

Wait til next summer with the World Cup. I think we'll have 90% of our deals sorted by the time out players go to the World Cup.
Would not count on that. There will be plenty of players who will put off any move until the WC is done.

I think it will be 50/50, a couple right away and a couple after the WC is done.

I'm fairly numb to the prices of players like Walker going for £45m but when you see those sorts of figures it turns my stomach a little bit.

It shouldn't turn your stomach, journos have spent a good time pretending that Ibrahimovic was on twice the wage he was actually on.

It's the weekly wage that sickens me the most really, it's disgusting money.

Well what would they do with the money otherwise? It´s not like Qatar could use half a billion euros to improve the working conditions at the World Cup construction sides, so literally hundreds of poor people don´t die. Neymar takes priority. :)

PSG are about to break the transfer market. I really hope the transfer doesn't happen.

I don´t think this specific deal does break the market in all honesty theirs very few players at the level of the Neymar´s Messi´s and Ronaldo´s level and with Neymar he brings a huge commercial value with him to. I do believe the market has gone mad and i actually think were on the right track not just paying what is asked as we will screw up our future dealings. Look at City most clubs know they can ask whatever they want and get it from them and surely now more than ever ffp has to come in and take its full affect and punish clubs fining them is pointless they need to have transfer bans etc for it to be obeyed.

Question, is anyone else getting a little bit fed up with the sort of money exchanging hands these days? As a football fan I'm starting to feel more and more disconnected with the game at the top level (and yes I felt the same when we spent money on Pogba last summer).
