Cristiano Ronaldo: "I've never had a [tax] problem in England, that's why I'd like to go back, unless you give me a new contract, pay the fecking 'tax' whatever it is and give me more monies."

I'm a mind reader, I know what he really meant to say.

Sanchez has clearly rejected us before. So not even a question. Dembele hasnt. Sure he might have a preference of Spain but things dont workout then we could be a possibility is what I want to see.

Anytime a top club does not go for a player there are three most probable reasons:

1. The club is not interested in that player for any of many reasons.

2. The player is not keen on joining the club even if the club is interested in him. This, the club would easily know after the first initial direct or indirect contacts with the player.

3. The employer (the club that has the player under contract) of the player is not at all keen on selling the player to the interested club.

Based on these possible reasons, one cannot simply assume that by not bidding for a player, United never saw the merits of signing such a player. For all we know, Dembele could have made it clear to United reps that he is not at all keen on playing in Manchester.

The LFP is looking at United's books as we speak.

I don't remember him being such a big name when we signed him although I suppose it was a lot of money at the time, but certainly not in the same bracket as Dembele , but then again neither was Ronaldo.

The only players I can think of that has a similar status are Hazard and Moura. Definitely not enough form to suggest we would stand a chance with Dembele if Fergie was still in charge.

How many successful young wingers did fergie buy? I can only think of Ronaldo.
Andrei Kanchelskis, Lee Sharpe, Nani. Most of Fergie's tenure, his wide-men were established long term starters, so that area wasnt in need of much attention.

As long as it doesn't cost too much.

The subsequent success of them is irrelevant- just as Dembele or Mbappé can flop in Spain.

The likes of Nani, Anderson, Tevez at the time and Ronaldo were all players who were ready to move up and were promising, but not ready to go and become stars at a top club. They needed cultivating. That's what Fergie did.

Cristiano knows how to charm us, doesn't he? "I'm coming back because the tax scheme in Spain is too difficult. Love you all. xx"

I agree that there future success is irrelevent but none of the players that were signed that have been mention by any of the posters were at the status levels in the game as Dembele. Certainly not beating Barca or Real.

Which is why I said, 'when he was at Rennes'.
