Apparently the 'sources' for that ESPN story was just a mini update from Luckhurst saying that he doesnt reckon Perisic will be joining this window.
Honestly, why do we need to buy?
If Martial starts banging them in from wide left and Rashford does too, why do we need to buy?
People talking about a left back. Blind was awful pre-season but actually decent on Sunday. If Shaw comes back and finds form. Why buy?
Our problem last season was missing easy chances. We seem to have gone some way to remedying that. So why just spend more cash? Why not give our squad the chance to prove itself?
United badly lack a world class left-footed winger. Or ANY left-footed winger for that matter. The attack is lop-sided, and the people who 'fill-in' there like Mkhi and Mata always drift inside or out of the game altogether.
Battering an average (at best) West Ham side at home is one thing, but the Super Cup showed that United are short at least a couple of the highest quality players to compete at the top table.

Do you mean right? Mata and Mkhitaryan play on the right wing.United badly lack a world class left-footed winger. Or ANY left-footed winger for that matter. The attack is lop-sided, and the people who 'fill-in' there like Mkhi and Mata always drift inside or out of the game altogether.

I don't think you can expect us to be automatically competing against the likes of Real yet. I think that will take another season, but we're more than capable of turning those home draws into wins - which would significantly improve our standing from last year.
Also - seeing as your a Swansea fan, you bid for Seri earlier in the window, right? (albeit quite a low ball bid). You think you'll go back for him with the Sigurdsson money burning a hole now?
Because if those if statements don't come true we are going to be fecked again like last year.
What makes you think those statements will come true besides blind hope ?
Martial has been in great form in pre-season, he scored a few days ago in a competitive game. What makes you think he won't get back to himself?
As for Shaw, no we won't be f'd if we don't buy a left back. Blind played fine at the weekend. Its not a must buy position right now. We can afford to wait until the right players are available.

We do need cover though, we had terrible luck with injuries last season, and the ones before that too to be honest, and we have to assume that there will be some element of injury woe once again this season.
We've got enough cover now if nobody is sold I reckon.
At right back we have Valencia, Darmian, Jones and even Smalling plus Lindelof can also cover there.
Centre Back we have Bailly, Jones, Smalling, Lindelof, Blind as cover and Rojo to come back.
Left back we have Blind, Darmian, Shaw hopefully proving the best option (we should know by the next transfer window so I'd use that one if needed not this one) and *shudder* Rojo coming back as cover. Even Young can cover.
That's without the younger options so I can't really see the need to add defensively unless you are replacing someone with a new first choice player which is a different thing altogether.
Drinkwater 40m, Sigurdsson 45m, Mahrez 50m...
I'm loving it![]()
Every club will be inserting sell-on clauses now, with how the market has exploded.Again highlights the importance of sell-on clauses. We should be getting a few million out of that deal ideally, although I'm not sure if sell-ons are usually valid if/when the player signs a new contract with his club.
