I honestly don’t think the Republicans would be in favour of removing it, they know a Republican President can use it with little effect politically while it’s suicide for a democrat President.

Ridiculous seems a bit harsh imo. There is a rationale to it as it should be trading political gain (= gain of the country) against justice in individual cases. What I think is ridiculous is the exposure of the priviledge to possible abuse by the president in the US. A lot of countries have it, but leaving it to the legislative branch is more common.

Which is why I'm pining for him to testify under oath. I'm not sure he even knows what perjury means .
He's used to having his lies accepted as truth, without a dissenting voice to be heard.
That has been the most jarring thing about all this. It was quite obvious that he'd played fast and loose with rules, regulations, and laws during his career. You'd think that would have been enough to steer them away from the scrutiny that would come with any public office, never mind POTUS. Yet they didn't care, and it didn't matter enough to the voting public. And they did nothing to change their ways once in power. Hopefully that hubris is their downfall.

I think they’re at defcon 2 right now. Cohen in big trouble, Manafort in big trouble, Flynn in big trouble, Gates in big trouble and half the Trump orbit likely in the cross hairs.
I think Rudy was digging into what Mueller wants to talk about, if anything particularly hazardous comes up they’d step the game up and consider the nuclear option. Mueller obviously played it low key and suggested they only discuss the Comey firing which I think is the easiest to defend for team Trump due to Comey’s stock plummeting recently and pretty much the entire GOP being against him.
Public discourse is not going to matter in an interview with Mueller. I think Comey is actually one of the hardest things to handle for Trump since it‘s proven that he had what appear to be unusual contacts with him (him staying behind, the calls, the dinner) that together with high credibility testimony from Comey is hard to explain away.
That's exactly the way I see it too. It wouldn't surprise me if Macron and Trudeau came up with some kind of bet or dare between them to see who can troll him the hardest.
