Best case scenario, they make it out of their group and put in a decent effort by resting players for the league, make it to the round of 16 or at a push the QFs and then after that focus entirely on the league and challenge for fourth place. I see that Rodgers recongises the lack of depth buy the number of players they are targeting in this window but I just think they all lack the quality.

A perfect analysis.

They're spreading the money too thinly. Without replacing Suarez they will have all the backups with no quality to back up for.
 
Ronaldo was anything but a winger his last two seasons - Valencia was not a like for like replacement. By that token, you can say they replaced Suarez with Lallana rather than Lambert.

Wait we always knew he was going to Madrid didn't we? His agent said so or something. Great signing for them although tonight I thought he was a bit rubbish tonight and Schwienstieger completely stole the show I forgot he was playing and his distribution was poor.
 
Now that Van Gaal is officially the United manager, I'd say we will see some signings being wrapped up quite quickly whoever they are.
 
The next week I think we'll see vidal sign I don't think we'll find out about the other until after. Perhaps another two weeks after until we hear about the next target. Unless we somehow do get Di Maria which we won't.
 
Would make sense to get most if not all of the deals done before the tour starts.

Why would we wait another 2 weeks for our next target ? Surely if we know who it is got to wrap it up ASAP or move on.
