If we're in for Ricardo Rodriguez after signing a 30m left back the only thing that makes since is a 5 at the back formation because he's way too good to be a sub.

.................De Gea
......Jones-Hummels-Shaw
Rafael---------------------Rodriguez

Shaw as an outside CB, he is 6'1 after all.

No chance this would ever happen. If this formation he'll play wing back, which he potentially suits more the LB any way. But no chance he could play left CB.

Then the signing doesn't make sense unless he can play both LB and RB, then he'd be a super sub.

How does it make no sense? You're basing that on what exactly? Tentative links to a guy we most likely will not sign and the fact that Shaw is 6'1? The gross assumption that we will play 5-3-2?

He will be our starting left back. That simple.

I get the fact Evra probably wants a new challenge, sunnier climes etc but i guess it boils down to he will be in effect second choice to Shaw.

The climate is not clearly better in Turin.

Just read the Jamie Jackson article, Hummels, Vidal and Di Maria would be a great window for us.

I read recently that contracts for young and old players at United are strongly linked to appearances, especially when he has just signed a new deal he is most definitely in these circumstances.

Guaranteed salary over the year whether playing or not would obviously be more enticing. Doubt he would earn 3.5mil in the year if he remained at United.

1year at United or guaranteed two years. If hes not near retiring, two is better than one.

Won't he be second choice to Assamoah at Juve?

Asomoah was playing makeshift Wingback in a 5 anyway, and now they want to revert back to a 4.

Asamoah wasn't that good in a 5 and they wanted someone else so little chance that he would be any better in a 4.

Those 3 would probably make us favourites for the league in all honesty.

It would be unbelievable! Got to up there with the best summer transfer window in the EPL era for us? Strengthened all weak areas.
Although we do need another LB and cover for RB. We have no Europe so the remaining squad will have time to rest and hopefully little injuries.
Good times. Although I only think we are in for Vidal.

Ron Vlaar was excellent last night, and today he has been linked with Manchester United.

Not transfer related but maybe of interest to some of you.

Neymar's agent has launched a scathing attack on coach Luiz Felipe Scolari - more details on #SSN

The amount of people saying thus is unreal. He's decent going forward at best. Please stop saying shit like this as its going to lead to unreasonable expectations of the lad.
Relax yourself.

It's just discussion and thinking ahead. Because some blokes on a forum think he might be a good winger one day, doesn't mean they're unreasonable expectations.

What I wrote was true; he has the attributes, strength, height, pace, determination, which are similar to what Bale had.

It is not unreasonable at all to discuss the potential he has.

Reports in Holland say #saintsfc are only willing to pay 8m euros for Pell and Feyenoord want 12m. Will find out more from Koeman tomorrow
