I agree that in terms of the club and the resources, everything looks to be in place. I'd just argue that for a player looking at it, that means nothing if that Adidas, Chevrolet Noodle etc. money isn't used to properly address our ropey looking backline, our lack of options in midfield and at full back and the terrible form of our senior wingers. I think we'll improve this year but I think it's optimistic to think it's a blip, the reality is that our squad is the 4th or 5th best in the league and several top class players away from the best in Europe.

If we were to bring in a couple of quality players then others may follow but at the moment they'll see two teams of similar standard and two massive clubs but one has Champions League football and a manager who is in for the long haul and one who has no European football and a brilliant but short-term manager.

Oh i agree man - our squad is piss-poor when you compare it with other squads & we need massive upgrades & get rid of the deadwood too.

I've worn out the keyboard saying we need many new players (transfers & youth promotions).

We've lost Rio, Vida, Evra, Giggsy & Buttner as cover at LB. Nani is useless, Young is useless, Cleverley is a headless chicken, Fellaini isnt United quality, Smalling & Jones arent up to it. Hernandez seems to have lost his spark & he's not a good all-round footballer anyway - he's a fox in the box & thats seems to be missing from his game now too. So he doesnt offer what we need, unless LvG can get that killer instinct back.

That's 12 players that are either gone, maybes, useless, or not gonna help us win major trophies in this new era of football, where clubs have spent well on upgrading their existing quality squads.

Promote the likes of Wilson & Will Keane as our back-up Strikers. Promote Lingard & Lawrence for the wings. Promote Michael Keane as a CB & promote as many not-so well mentioned players at youth level as possible.

Get the 1st team solidity bang-on 1st though & then we can introduce the youth as quickly as possible. No more f*ck-ups this season is the important thing..

Those players are wearing last season's kit. They could've used Vidal or Pogba pictures from last season like they have the others.
Even if they were wearing this season's kit, they could've just used photoshop to add their heads in.

Just on that Emmet Kennedy guy, I was reading the United thread on Boards.ie (an Irish forum) and someone on there said that he was a huge Liverpool fan so there might a small possibility that he could just be trolling United fans with all the Vidal stuff.

He 100% is. He posted a few pics of people fishing the other day, that says it all lol. Pretty sad really.

I think its safe to say that nobody has a clue about United's transfers this summer

Isn't he an Arsenal target?

Article says he's put off going to Arsenal as they've signed Debuchy so wants to go somewhere he'll play more minutes.

Lampard off to a great start.

I remember the incident, it was right after 9-11, and it was rather vulgar. John Terry (surprise surprise) Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, and I forgot the 4th person. Anyway, there was a huge outrage, they became intoxicated and openly mocked Americans who were stranded in the airport. I forgot what was said exactly but it was pretty bad. Apparently they were stuck in the airport because their flights had been canceled due to international flight shutdown and they took out their 'frustration' on a group of grieving Americans.

What did they expect from a fine upstanding citizen like Frank Lampard.

Cole didn't play for Chelsea back then he wasn't involved, the 4 culprits were John 'big man' Terry, Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jody Morris.

It was a scummy thing to do no doubt, but young pissed up lads acting the wanker is not unusual. He deserves a bit of stick for it in New York no doubt but he has said he regrets his behaviour back then and it was 13 years ago we all make mistakes.

Maybe media in Chile would have a better understanding of Vidal and his mindset, but why would they know more then the English press about United's intentions?

Woody is feeding the English press a solid steam of lies to remind them who's boss.

If someone is feeding the details of the deal to the Chilean media then look no further than Fernando Felicevich, i've suspected it's him for awhile.

It's been 13 years. They should get over it.

They need to get over it.

Reading reports of what went on that night seems to suggest they were loud and obnoxious between themselves and clearly insensitive about the situation, but were absolutely obliterated (they went to a nearby bowling alley and jumped face first down the lanes).

They were fined, £100k fine sent to an American family disaster charity, and an apology through the club.
