Wish the Guardian was a little more sensationalist... Says we can break world record then links us with Blind and Tommy V, whilst ruling out Di Maria and not even mentioning Vidal.

Getting a horrible feeling that this "He is the boss, won't force him a player" line suggests Woody wants to spend it more than LvG - could mean we don't get the muppets dream - hope I'm wrong.

Sure Louis will say something later...

I'm not liking these new Woodward quotes, how he can claim we're the biggest club in the world the same week Madrid sign Kroos and James is beyond me.

This Vidal bid is going to be the best prepared bid in the history of bidding. Juventus won't know what's hit them with how well this bid has been prepared. Books on bidding preparation will be written on this bid because of the pure unbelievable quality of it's preparation.

Proper Prior Preparation Prevents A Piss Poor Performance. Not such problems here.

Evans had a quieter season under Moyes, but I think he'd be a great shout. With Rio and Vidic gone he's finally a definite starter (and I see him really impressing with that role secured). He's reasonably experienced, doesn't mind expressing himself to teammates on the pitch, and seems like a good level-headed lad.

Plus it bypasses all the ridiculous drama you'd get by making either Rooney or RVP captain. And neither would mind missing our for someone like Evans, because it's not like he's a competing 'star player'. It would just be an entirely different sort of captaincy decision.

Also I'm in the camp that prefers a CB (or at least a CM) as captain, someone who has the game in front of them.

A lot of us did say Evans was a decent shout, wouldn't mind it at all.

Aside from the fact that Gundogan signed a new deal, Reus isn't a centre mid and the the suggestion that they might lose two of their key players is somehow a good thing for United in trying to buy Hummel, I'd say he totally nailed it.

Wish he would save this kind of billy big bollix talk for the press conference where he actually unveils a world class signing. He's potentially making a rod for his own back and there's no real benefit to him making such statements.

If you read the article Woodward repeats that we won't go throwing money about just for the sake of it. A journo has clearly asked him if he'd be prepared to break the transfer window and he's said the funds are there if needed, in a round about way.

Didn't read the article, I presumed the quotes were from the MUTV interview the other day.

PS - Its as if some of you never miss out words or make typos...

What footballing good does Woody saying we can spend £70m on one player do? Juventus' ears perk up and now they want £50m instead of £40m (just an example). Oh, we have interest in Cuadrado. Well guess what, United cn spend £70m on a player so Cuadrados price has just gone up. £40m please (again, just an example).

The only good it does is attract certain sponsors, and I say certain because any sponsor with any sense waits until we actually spend that kind of money. Talk is cheap, remember. Actually, no it's not. Woody talking is potentially making our transfers more expensive.

Soz that sounded pissier than the politely correcting approach I was aiming for ;)

We're clearly not going to sign anyone else this summer so 'woody' should really put a sock in it

Christ I can't wait till September 1st

Are all these Ed Woodward quotes from his interview a few days ago or has he literally just done one? I'm actually right in the middle of his previous one now, he actually seems nicer than I originally thought.
