So we know Di Maria and Vidal are available for the right price, but we have made no contact for either. Both of them are the best players available in areas we need to strenghten.WTF is going on Woody?

When does the transfer window close/end?

31st August is Sunday so 1st September is minimum. I am not sure if they will add one more day for 30th falling on Saturday. Don't think it is necessary as clubs should be planning in advance knowing 30-31st are falling on weekend.

Yeah whatever this twitter accoung writes I believe it. It's really reliable.

If we're not after Vidal and Di Maria, then it's because Van Gaal doesn't want them enough. It doesn't really matter how ridiculous this could sound for us fans/muppets, but the important thing is what Van Gaal wants and which players he thinks would fit into his system and philosophy. This is the only logical explanation after Woodward's interviews in the last couple of days about the famous ''limitless budget''. That and the players' preferences, of course.

I'm more than happy to just be patient and see who else we bring in this summer regardless of whether it's Vidal, Di Maria or resigning Obertan. I've been calm since Van Gaal has been appointed as manager and will continue to be because I'm sure Van Gaal knows what he's doing - something that we never really felt under Moyes' reign.

We don't buy players just for the sake of it. The manager has to want the player first and van Gaal will evaluate our current players during the tour before he makes any decisions.

I'm not buying that we've made no contact for either. We've just done it quietly imo.

Plus I thought the story with di Maria was that he wasn't prepared to take a season out of CL?

We've lost 4 experienced players from our squad, that should be enough to warrant new arrivals. I get that LVG will want to see what he already has at his disposal but surely last seasons poor showing (believe it or not, it wasn't all David Moyes fault though a large part of the blame lays at his feet) should convince him that we need new blood.

I am happy with Ander Herrera and delighted with Luke Shaw but that is not enough to make us challenging again.

 What you mean is...

Papers haven't said we are in for Di Maria / Vidal = Danny_Boi WTF

However, what should have happened:

Papers haven't said we are in for Di Maria / Vidal = Danny_Boi understanding that Manchester United do not typically leak our transfer activities to the press, and judging from the past, it's clear 99.9% of what they say is utter rubbish, I'll choose to give my club the benefit of the doubt and the papers might not actually work for Manchester United, so may say things just to ..... get hits!

I'm not buying the story that Di Maria is unwilling to play 1 season not in the CL.If competing at the highest level is so important to him, surely he would be unwilling to move to the french league.

Don't know why but Di Maria just seems possible to me.

The Independant article from Ian Herbert suggests the player doesnt want the move - im sure the line was "..if they can persuade the player of the move".

I expect he will sign for PSG - initially on loan.
