Fletcher as a temporary captain makes sense as he's massively experienced, already Scotland's captain and it would neither faze him nor give the media something to latch on to such as if Rooney were to be given it first game.

AS were actually first to report Herrera in June saying he will arrive ''within days'' and he did, but they still don't seem always reliable to me.
No they weren't. It was Inigo Markinez of Cadena Ser. AS were simply relaying his information, like everyone else was.

I agree. Feels like if there was ever a Summer for a statement signing, it would be this one. Obviously we want the best players for United, not the flashiest. But would be very nice to send a statement. Especially after last Summers shambles.
Replacing Vermaelen with Vidal makes more sense. Though still would like one more attacking addition.

Agree. Would be staggered and annoyed if we don't get one big name (with Vidal and Di Maria most likelyish).
I know great teams don't necessarily have to have the star names but would be nice to shut a few people up, especially those who seem to claim we are a spent force and miss out on every top player.
One thing that did make me think though. Woody claims the elite want to join us and money isn't an issue - well in which case where are they?! I know there is still time, but I am a little concerned with the players we are being linked with - not the grade A that we apparently won't have any problem attracting.
Sign Blind and Vidal and replace Vermaelen with someone who isn't shit.
Herrera is more than decent. De Vrij and Shaw are players with very high potential ceilings.

I agree. I wouldn't say it would be down to van gaal either, as he wouldn't turn the likes of Vidal down. We've been hearing for months about big signings and certain amounts of money being spent. It's not just about wanting flashy players, I simply don't think we would be good enough with those names being thrown about.
Van Gaal isn't really one for flashy names and huge signings. Money probably isn't an issue but if van Gaal doesn't want player x or y, we're not going to attempt to bring them in.
For muppet signings, Moyes is your man given the names he was linked with (and was unsuccessful with). For getting us back on track with the players he wants no matter how unpopular (Vermaelen for example), van Gaal is the one.
That list of transfer targets, and the accompanying words on each one, seems to be about 3 weeks out of date.
