UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

I wouldn't say very reliable, I think if it was on fire you'd be hearing about it by now. I'd give them a ring to warn them though, I'd expect trouble in Hayes tonight.

Keep us updated with whats going around hayes please.

Why did Marc Duggan and company have two guns, I'd hardly call that innocent.

Reports of 'stand off' between gangs and police in Salford exaggerated. 20 or so youths dispersed by police - one brick thrown, no injuries

...

Bull Bridge Tesco being shut at 9PM as a precaution. Hayes Town being locked down, fire engines patrolling the area, youths on bikes being stopped by police. All shops in Hayes Town shut.

Also, Manc centre as my daughter works there.
She said shitloads of Riot police in Salford.
Prevention rather than cure?

I'd imagine so.... get the coppers in there, keep people moving along, stop any crowds building up.

On my way into work, quite tense outside, people visibly on edge and cautious. Train empty think most have gone home by now, stay safe peeps will pop in here as the night progresses and let you know how it's going

Some of my pics from Claps today...Nothing that exciting. Some bloke from Sky. A lot of glass..

what they dont grasp is that the kids are not stupid - they know what to do - when to do it and how to be mobile enough for the rampage for as long as they are allowed - the amount of arson is a clue

The word I was going for is pronounced ought, though God knows how it's spelt. More Yorkshire than Manc, I'd say?

Aught. Positive polarity equivalent of naught/nought. And turns out you're right, it can be spelt ought as a variant. Archaic in standard English but maybe still current in Yorks then?
