UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

What is really starting to annoy me, is those who are not involved, just loitering with their camera phones out watching - so this is what people who slow down on the motorway to look at an accident do with their spare time.

Hope something similar in town soonish, lads, united/city no matters. feck these tramps off.

I reckon Muslims coming back from prayers'll do the same, that is, if it happens to spread outside the centre, towards Wilmslow Road and Cheetham Hill Road. Not sure how the Mail'll take it, but heh.....

Why haven't the police deployed zonal marking?

think about it, folks.

people that live in the area and are out to protect there area ,is excellent .
People that are just out roaming looking for trouble are not protecting anybody , they are stupid

Until someone throws a petrol bomb at them, from afar.

That is a good idea, though if the BBC encouraged something like that I'm sure people would go crazy.

Hmmmm, I was brought up in southall and live 5 mins away now, anytime there is trouble people stick together and look after each other. Southall is rarely in the news but it's nice to see some unity.

No doubts they'll want to protect there Mosques and rightly so. This is basically an attack on society.

In fairness the chavs who aren't so bright have really siphoned themselves out from the rest of us.

It's nice to see local communities out protecting their areas and each other but the concern is this might turn into gang warfare or race riots.

I think they are, I'd actually prefer a bit of man marking, following a yob when he goes out of the police's area.

Why don't think make sure they can't get out of the centre? Like Outbreak but with scallies.

Absolutely, I was advocating a very tough stance yesterday to prevent it turning into something like that.

Would anyone be dumb enough to do that? Throwing it in the vague direction of riot police with armor on is one thing, but throwing it into a crowd of civilians. People could die, and they sure as hell wouldn't get away with it.

If this turns racey, I.e. the yobs vs the communities, then who knows?

Indeed. And now that we know who they are we should round them all up, execute the lot and sterilise their parents.

That's just one idea I'm throwing out there....

That is what they are meant to do with protests and riots isn't, confine them and keep them in a small area for 10+ hours until they get tired, then arrest.

Disappointing they haven't managed it here.

Lots of communities out now to protect property this could get proper nasty

"Fairly Robust Arrests" What the feck is a robust arrest!? Shut the hell up man on BBC news.

It puts it all into perspective when they keep showing these adverts for AID in Africa during the commercial breaks.

That's real poverty.

Makes these events even more sickening, famine in Africa - dickheads in hundreds of quids worth of clothes and smartphones claiming poverty.

It's a nonsense.

It could, but it wont. These scallies dont want the whole country standing up against them..They just want to steal some phones unchallenged...You put proper numbers on the street, and communities come out to protect their lot, and you see them feck off sharpish like the little twats they are.

Someone on my facebook just posted this:

‎"Things got out of hand & we’d had a few drinks. We smashed the place up and Boris set fire to the toilets.”
David Cameron, 1986.

"The looting and arson last night were criminality, pure and simple. Justice will be done and the people will see the consequences for their crimes.”
David Cameron, 2011

Referring to the Bullingdon club.

Very true. I think we should spray them with that dye so we can round up afterwards and arrest etc., surprised they haven't used it.

I am very interested as to what Liberty will say about all this.

I can't understand how the UK government and police have let it go this far. Why haven't they been able to control the situation?

Nationwide riots and they haven't been able to handle it for days. At this scale, it's pretty much unheard of in modern Western Europe. What a feck up.

As I read somewhere today, the Archbishop of Canterbury always had something to say about policy, but why has he said nothing about this?

So a friend of mine had their flat in Haringey broken into and completely stripped bare. Took everything. Even their bedding. Wasn't your normal break in either. Every window in the place had been smashed in and they obviously took their time looting it. Another friend got fronted up to by a gang of masked hoodies while walking to work through London Fields and only just managed to talk his way out of a beating.

London's a shit place to be right now, even if most people are managing to stay un-molested. Sounds as though the impression i'm getting from the news coverage isn't far wide of the mark.

Does anyone know why the army haven't got involved?

With regards to communities standing up for themselves, I'm all for it. As Mockney said, get proper numbers involved and the looters will be overhwelmed. It'd be great if everyone united and give these scum a good kicking. It's about time communities stood together with a common goal, instead of the usual shit we see in the news.

I've seen a few bits and pieces saying that there's trouble starting here in Preston, though I'm not sure if it's true yet.

They haven't done anything. I don't think they have even imposed a curfew (not that that would achieve much), they should have taken down the social networking sites so it is difficult to communicate and organise these things. I don't understand how they can rule out the use of water-cannons and what is the point of the govt holding a cobra meeting tomorrow when the situation is getting worse now.

The police are trying their best but each time they get the cnuts out of one area, they move onto another area and start again. I don't know what the numbers are but it seems that a few thousand people have brought chaos to the entire country and the protectors of society don't have a fecking clue what to do.

Elizabeth Pilgrim has to be a prime target, they've shown her all day.

I assume your friend wasn't there at the time? Which is extremely fortunate.

fecking hell mate, glad your friend wasn't home when the bastards tore his place up.
