The game is also on TV in Holland on RTL5, but I'll be sitting in a train from Rotterdam to Eindhoven at that time... (hopefully with a victory on Feyenoord :D)

I think that it's a bit early to write off Chelsea and Liverpool.
Well, history shows us that as long as we don't lose to you at OT, we win the league (at least it's been true for 8 seasons)... :smirk:

Reall sad news for Sol. I'd heard about his father's stroke before the Inter match but only just found out he died. Devastating and terrible timing, if there can ever be a good time to lose your dad. Two scenarios I can see:

1) Sol plays and plays an absolute blinder
2) He doesn't play and we run amok

Clutching at straws but Timmeh! said “The manager has told me every time I get the ball I need to look up and give it to someone quickly. Ole and Cristiano Ronaldo want it wide, where they are very dangerous.....". Presumably in training so Ron to start!!!!!!!!!!!!

A tactical change from the 4-2-3-1 formation to christmas tree formation 4-3-2-1 would be advantage (just like Lion's suggestion), with Giggs and Ronaldo running free behind RVN.

Howard

G.Neville Ferdinand Silvestre O'Shea

Djemba2 Keane/Butt P. Neville/Fortune

Ronaldo Giggs

Van Nisterooy

Only if FSW is showing them live or same day tape delay. I don't see paying $15 or $20 for a PPV showing, but I would order tomorrow but I have commitments to some young kids tomorrow on base (Family Day volunteer).

I usually just follow the live text on www.manutd.com and on this forum.

Whats worst is that Fox Sports World Canada is showing the Arse game LIVE, but FSW in the US gets nothing (f-in bundesliga)

How do you work that out Sherlock?

Looks to me like it's Ole OR Ronaldo. I don't think Fergie will throw Cristiano in at the start of this one, but it could be interesting if he does. I hope he will get on at some stage anyway, with Arsenal's defence a bit suspect atm.

And what is Mikael Silvestre playing at - someone should gag our players (and manager at times!) when they start rubbishing the opposition saying they don't have enough bottle. Talk about motivation.

What with that and his garden fence activity after Bootgate, I'm beginning to think Silvestre is an Arsenal mole. ;)

Good team, that's how I'd go as well.

You don't think Phil Neville deserves to be in then? He's been playing well, and don't forget how he kept Vieira quiet last year.

No guarantee it would be the same this time I know.

Thats my team, and I did say I expect Ron on the bench, Fortune left wing and Butt in the middle. Butt for Phill depends in what kind of mood Fergies in, I'm certain Ron wont start with a second DM will be in the middle.

I don't know about Arsenal mole.....but he knows both Henry and Wiltord well having played with them both earlier in his career (under 17 with Henry and at Rennes with Wiltord),leaving aside,of course, the fact they all play now together at international level.

I think Silvestre is an excellent player obviously relishing his role at CB and I would like to have him (and O'Shea) at Arsenal.......you can keep Rio and the plug uglies (aka the Neville brothers)

Dream on. He won't be changing his name to Eau Chez.

though of course theyll interchange a bit, fortune pulling wide and giggsy running through the middle.
i like the combative side of that middle 3, and i hope fortune will put the shits up them.

This whole week I thought the match was on Saturday and would interfere with my commitments for that day. Now I found out the match is on Sunday, so I figure I will shell out the money and watch the match live on PPV. Probably record the match too. Happy, happy, joy, joy :)

As a fan, wouldn't it be a no brainer to watch the match, irrespective if it was free or on PPV ?

I've had second thoughts and think Cristiano might play from the start even if he doesn't end the game - he was made for Ashley Cole. ;)

Howard
Neville G
Rio
Silvestre
JOS
Ronaldo
Keane
Neville P
Giggs
Ole
Ruud

That would be my team, but I think Fortune might play on the left, with Giggs behind Ruud as usual.

Not necessarily. I don't care to pay $20 for a 2 hour match, but since this is a big game, I will. Besides, I'm on per diem so Uncle Sam is footing the bill. ;)

It does piss me off that FSW Canada will show the match live but for some reason FSW is not televising live in the US (nor same day tape delay). Has to be some conspiracy due to the NFL games...wait...Fox owns FSW...and Fox has the highest rated pre-game American football show...hmmm...or maybe they know that there are about 2-4 million Americans willing to shell out $20 (roughly equating to about 200-400k PPV purchases, estimate might be high or low...I don't know). They are feckin' gouging US reds of every penny.

7 players in defensive roles for a home game???

i think not

I beg to differ. Just dont agree with playing Giggs behind van Nistelrooy. I have always been of the opinion that Giggs should be played on the left and Ronaldo on the right, so that we can fully exploit both the flanks. Moreover, they seem to be the only natural wingers in our side. Dont like to see Fortune or Phil playing on the flanks as IMO they are not dangerous enough going forward. Ole would do a fine job behind RVN too I think. So, my team would be

------------Howard------------

Gaz----Rio-----Silvestre---O'shea

---------Keane---Phil-----------

Ronaldo-------Ole--------Giggs

------------RVN--------------

Bench - Fletcher, Forlan, Fortune, Djemba, Barthez

Do you expect a Murdoch corporation to give handouts? They're merely exploiting a profitable market. I would always pay, although it is your right if you don't, for one reason or another.

For feck sake, 3 DMs yet again? I'm sorry but it's fecking rediculous. If that's the sort of tactics we are going to play, especially at home, then pretty soon Liverpool are going to start looking like Real Madrid compared to us. :nono:

We let Beckham and Veron leave and brought in Ronaldo as their replacement. Fair enough, I am happy with that, but if we are not going to use Ronaldo in these situations then quite frankly we should have brought in someone else aswell.

I realise that youngsters need time but Scholes is out injured and we need someone in a forward role. Remember, if your good enough, your old enough. Play the boy.

Keane is hardly a defensive mid. With Fortune and Phil in there it gives him license to get forward, and Fortune is pretty handy in attack too. We are a bit stretched at the moment, and, looking at the whole ninety minutes, it would probably be wise to let Ronaldo come on when legs are tired and we've kept things solid.

If Ole and Keane are fit, they are must starts IMO. Keane for obvious reasons, and I actually thought Ole picked up his game quite a bit against Pana. He had a couple of weak games before that, but against Pana, I thought he was quite dangerous--he just seemed to have that extra bit of pace back in his step, and that is an encouraging sign.

I also think Ronaldo and Giggs must start as well. Their pace and dribbling ability should prove to be deadly.

---------------------------Howard------------------------------------

Gary-----------------Rio---------Silvestre----------------------O'Shea

------------------Keane-----------Fortune----------------------------

---------Ole----------------Giggs---------------Ronaldo--------------

----------------------------Ruud-------------------------------------

Fortune has been playing incredibly well, and, if he continues to play at such a level, should be an automatic in United's starting 11. The defense obviously picks itself, and so does Ruud. All in all, this is an incredibly strong side. If Keane can't play, I would start Nicky. Although we wouldn't have as much drive from the middle, the back would be incredibly well protected and Ole, Giggs, Ronaldo and Ruud are more than capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.

My thoughts go out to Sol by the way.

Very good team mat. Ferguson by the way has said he is likely to gamble on Roy tomorrow, but also conceded that it is likely he will have to take regular breaks during the season. If he makes it through the whole match tomorrow, I don’t think he’ll finish the game in Stuttgart.

Dont think Ronaldo shd start on the bench mate. We ARE playing at home, against a team with a very stretched defense at the moment. Also I dont really rate Phil and Fortune too much going forward. They are excellent holding midfielders but just dont have enough creativity to be much of an attacking threat. In the absence of Scholes, we need a spark in attack, and I say let that come from Ronaldo, especially since he has had a full weeks rest as well.

What colors are we wearing today? Is it maybe Arsenal's mucus-colors against our black kit?

Arsenal's dress has to be the most ugly uniform ever made :annoyed:

Why do so many people want to play Ole on the right with Giggs behind Ruud? It took the poor bloke years to get accepted as a first choice striker & now we want to take that away from him too. Play Ole behind Ruud & leave Giggs where he belongs on the wing.....Playing him in that role we would, I believe, see him scoring shed loads again
