Shut up. We can say they didn't play good enough, but no one can say they didn't care or didn't tried. I thought the players have already fought very hard, but we just lost to the team which played better today.

Arsenal weren't that good. Yeah, they got the run of the green, but that is all. They hardly took the piss like they did against the scousers. However, how anyone can say we were no worse than November escapes me... My judgement on whether they try or not is based relative to the last home game. You can't honestly say the same workrate was there today. And those who bang on about tiredness, well we've played pretty much the same number of games than the Arse, and we supposedly have players who are fresher after their ops and rehab.

However, Wednesday is another kettle of fish, and I still reckon we can do Juve...

Agreed. Veron gives us that extra bit of flair that comes with footballers from South America, Spain and France. Unfortunately Arsenal have this in abundance as we can observe from their attacking play... Hate to admit it but english players aren't quite as technical.

TOTALLY GUTTED :(
But remember we'll never die we'll never die we'll keep the red flag flying high cos MAN UTD never die :D

They are good at keeping poession, after they scored they could just keep the ball on their foot and make it difficult for us. But I certainly see the work and passion there. Beckham has run his socks off before getting injured, and most other players also did the same. Arseanl has played better than last time they were here, Vieira was back to his best and Pires was simply awesome.

You need to be up for more than the first ten, mate. The bookings took all the bite out of the midfield. That is a lack of discipline.

We desperately lack creativity and flair. If Veron played he may add a few of it, but it still not enough, and Veron also didn't always played well. He was not consistent enough.

You get the impression with United Arsenal games this season that its going to be who scores first wins - its a mind game when we play them - Giggs missing then that deflected goal just tells you it wasn't going to be our day - again - against them. You have got to take your chances against that type of opposition - throughout the season we miss too many - but with most other teams we will get another bite of the cherry - we had a couple of chances today (apart from giggsy miss) but didn't do the business & then paid the penalty.

More worringly we seem to be losing a bit of form at totally the wrong time of the season - you cannot have two bad patches in a season we'd better not feck up at Cardiff next month - unfortunately you know what we are like at times!

It is unfair to be eliminated at this level. After all, in tennis, the number one can't meet the number two before the final. When I wrote that, Jens replied that I wanted to protect Arsenal "the national French team". It wasn't that ! I just feared what has happened today... :( :( :(

Exactly - and we did the same thing in the OT league game last season. Wenger must have been loving it.

I thought our midfield was outplayed in the 2nd half against City and again today against Arsenal which is a bit of a concern for me. I know Vieira's a great player, but we had him well-contained a couple of months ago. Maybe it was just one of those days...

Why is it that as soon as we lose, some people only remember the positive things about ex players.

Yes, Andy Cole might have made a difference today. So might Yorkie, so might Jordi Cruyff for that matter. It's hypothetical. Andy Cole's pace didn't always do the business - he and Yorke were anonymous in the CL final, and in other games. Like any other player, he had good games, and he had bad. We'll never know if he would have made a difference today

would he have missed that one today???

Stick closer to home. Would Solskjaer have missed if he had been playing in a central position?

Or on the other hand, would either Solskjaer or Cole have got into that position in the first place.

Horses for courses. Giggs probably did what other players couldn't by getting past the Arsenal defence and the goalkeeper in the first place.

The only reason Giggsy missed was because it was his right foot had it been his left he would of scored then thats no excuse he had enough time to have something to eat and then score.
He missed history now

Yes. As a left winger for most of it.

You might not have noticed he doesn't get to play up front very often these days.

I think he did bloody well to get as far as he did. Yes, it's frustrating that he didn't put it away, but it happens.

I wonder when is the last time he really played as a striker.

Sorry. Misunderstood.

Your not getting along with me today are you Livvie... I wasnt longing for the day that Andy Cole was a regular in this side i was longing for pace up front. You make a statement about Andy Cole and Yorkie contributions in the CL final which basically forgets what he did getting us there. He also had the winner against Spurs to win the Prem that year. I have seen ERIC miss as many sitters as Andy Cole. Borussia dortmund at home comes to mind. All players miss sitters and i didnt see the game and for gods sake i named my eldest son after the welsh wizard so dont have a go at me with statements like you have posted.. Even though we went on this great run before the city game im sure you have found our attack wanting.

I don't disagree with the principle - though I wonder how many goals we might have scored playing regularly with a two-man attack. It gets boring I know, but Ruud and Ole scored 61 goals between them last season - frustrates me that what was a promising partnership has just been shelved.

I just don't see the point in remembering ex-players, whoever they are, with rose-coloured specs, when we've got two strikers who could do the job if they were allowed to play together and further develop what they started.

agree with the two strikers. Rudd and OLE should start every game unless they are tired suspended or have a dip in form.. But SAF needs to have scholes and Veron on the pitch and that leaves ole out. Hopefully we will right our selves against the Italians on wednesday. Hate getting up at 4 am to see/hear this the last two weekends. one goal in two the last two home games Unacceptable

Maybe for away games with a view to going 4-4-2 if we go behind.

For home games we should be all out attack, and Ole should be played where Ole plays best.

I wouldn't mind betting that he is as frustrated now as he has ever been at OT.

I feel sorry for Ole too. It's got to be really difficult for him being played all over the pitch and keeping his sharpness and rhythmn as a striker. And yet, when he has a scoring opportunity, fans are going to expect him to deliver as if he has been playing regularly as a striker.

Exactly. He's either on the bench, or the right wing, or the left wing, or up front on his own.

As you say, no chance to find rhythm or get momentum, and no chance to build confidence either. And yet today he still made/had more chances than Ruud, so what would he do in the correct position and with a partner.

Talking about Ruud's miss n the 2nd half of the city game, & about Giggs' effort today, Will shift the attention from the fact that there is a dip n form that was clear n the 2nd half of the city game,,,the players tired, out of sorts...really annoying....

I'm surprised that Phil Neville didn't get a game, with Giggs where he should be and Scholes behind Ruud.

If Fergie had to play one up front, I'd have thought that would work better, and Neville would have been well up for it.

This is FOOTBALL pal, everyone knows the rules before they start, so live with it.

Well what a disapointment against the arse with no henry, bergkamp or gilberto. As for the glaring miss by Giggs(why??????), if only it went in it would have been a different game, and I know that our defence played good apert from thier second goal, but I have to say that Rio does not look as fast as he used to be since his injury and this is worrying, and I know fergie won't drop him but our defence has looked the best this season when we played brown and silvestre in the middle with Oshea on the left, as all three of those guys seem faster and more composed then Rio. And also we are seriously in need now of extra striking help and the only chance now we have of winning anything is the Worthless cup against pool, as we won't win the CL with our current team!!.

So what ! Bad things can be changed ! When the draw was known, most of the people here said "Waouh ! We're going to trash them ! Quadruple blah blah blah". I said it wasn't a good thing that we meet them so soon. I was insulted and accused to feel sorry for Arsenal (eh Jens ). And now we see the result. :(

Heads up guys. Feel sorry for giggsy tho. i think the intl. in mid weeks affected us greatly. the players didnt stop running but looked lethargic and struggled at times.
We can only improve on this performance. Bring on Juve,
we still going for 2 major trophies. lets keep our hunger and focus going. This result mite have been a blessing in disguise with the number of games we got coming up
