I think Fergie will put out a reasonably strong side. And when you've already qualified, I don't think playing some fringe players or youngsters necessarily lessens your chance of getting a result. These players have something to prove whereas the first team players would play knowing we've already qualified and sub-consciously maybe not give the 100% effort that we'll undoubtedly get from the youngsters.

Carroll
Gaz Blanc Rio O'Shea
Fletcher Phizza Butt Richardson
Forlan Solskjaer

(Official.)

Should be interesting.

I hope it's not disjointed because they aren't going to be familiar with each other as a team.

Looking forward to seeing Fletcher and Richardson, but not too sure about the supply line to the front two.

If the Faulty's start like they did over there we'll be lucky to keep them from cutting through the midfield for the first 20 minutes, after that we should be okay.

I predict 0:0 after 20 minutes, and United to win 3:1 by full time

Good luck Man Utd

Be careful ;)

I dont see a problem with putting out a weak team tonight. Juve and Deportivo still have it in their own hands if we do.

If Deportivo win tonight, Juve are out no matter what happens with us. If Juve win tonight, Deportivo are out, not matter what happens with us. Either way, even if we get beat tonight, the winer would still be a point ahead of Basel with Juve still to play them in Turin.

It would be in their own hands to either beat us or at least draw with Basel.

Doesn't effect a thing.

The only problem would arise if they draw and we get beat, in which case Basel would be two points ahead of both, both if won their last match would still be ahead of Basel and it would come down to the scale of the draw between them tonight to decide between them.

It's in both of their hands even if we get thrashed tonight. :)

Swings and roundabouts.

It doesn't matter in terms of the CL. I wonder if it matters in terms of getting a bit of momentum/confidence going for Saturday.

I'm looking forward to it tho.

I think it's good that we rest a few players that have been looking tired recently.

I like it! Two youngsters playing on the wings. Maybe we wont need Denilson after all!

Tho, Fletcher is more of a CM, isn't he?

Definitely. Like I said, swings and roundabouts.

From a psychological point of view tho, I wonder how the players brought in will react. Not saying they won't go for it, because they obviously will, but subconsciously they must be aware that having played to the highest standard in Italy, they still didn't get to play at Cardiff. That must be demoralising even to professionals.

If we should lose though, it might help Basel thru instead of Juventus or Deportivo. :)

Might help them a little, but it will still be in the hands of the two other teams to qualify.

Ruud, Scholes, Giggs, Ricardo and two other youngsters - not sure who.

Thanks, Livvie. Just saw it on MUTV. Pugh and Webber are the 2 youngsters.

Where IS David May these days?

Can anyone get the radio to work for this game on manutd.com?

Having a problem accessing my email but I can access the radio feed for United. Go figure.

BTW, did I hear that right, Blanc is playing? How nice to see Larry play in a few matches.

He'll come good. No one is worth 30 million, though.

He's made a few mistakes, but he's a quality player and he's going to be a great buy long term. United have got loads of money, it was worth 30 million just to piss the sheep off

:D

Close there from Diego - c'mon now reds, build on this and lets get an equaliser before HT

seems that is it is more than a few mistakes. The Worthington Cup, FA Cup tie against Arse. He really seems to be more of a liablity, than anything. But that is just my observation, what do I know?
