If nothing else this should convince the board that we need a striker even if we can't get one who isn't cup-tied.

We look the best side in Europe when we're on the ball between the halfway line and opposition penalty area. So it's disappointing about how often our final ball is shit, including set pieces (unless of course we score from them direct).

I saw Sunderland defend impressively at Liverpool. This is not a team you want to give a goal to.

Scoring the first goal has been so vital for us this season. I think we only came back once in the league from behind to win (Charlton) and only lost a win a couple of matches (draws as Sunderland and West Ham) when we scored first.
 
I'd be tempted to bring on Phil Neville - Keane to me still doesn't look fully fit and has been very careless by his standards.

He's right to try and get a top quality forward, but in the meantime he could have loaned one you'd think. Whats up with Ole today? His finishing is usually so much better than that. I just cannot understand how we can miss so many chances, though credit to Macho for some excellent saves.

I keep forgetting he's on the pitch but we need to giving him the match practice. Not sure about Phil Neville as replacement, because there's nothing for a defender or defensive midfielder to do ! More likely Richardson to create some additional pressure on the left flank.

I'll bet O'Shea and Silvestre spend 90% of the second half on the attack.

Diego has been poor, I think.

Surely if you keep getting chances, odds are you must score. Weird thing these jinxes, but sometimes once you score, its easier to score again.
