we need rio or probably any defender

wtf is up with Van Buyten going to shity on loan, i think we need him more, the way wes is going!

shocking defending at times i must say and phil was getting a little too adventurous with his passing at times and seemed ineffective, looks like it might be time for nicky to get a good run in the side and rest phil

saha was everywhere it seemed at times

ronaldo played well

fletcher didn't do too bad as a sub, had that one nice run and nearly set up wes with a cross

howard had some lapses in concentration, but made that huge save off of the overhead kick

you would think with phillips' penchant for long range strikes that our defenders would know to close him down quicker from the ranges he scored from

I am bothered man, our whole defence was shaky today with wes brown passing like forlan and Howard almost Taibi like!!.

Well, we won! :D :D :D

We scored three goals, and could've easily scored another three. Not to mention that we should've had at least two penalties.

Saha was very good, my MOTM. Ruud and Ronaldo too had good matches and Scholes at times was very good.

Now for the negative. Our defence was crap, we were very lucky to only concede two goals. Howard made a number of good saves, but also made two terrible mistakes at the end that could've cost us two points.

O'Shea was decent at RB and I think Fortune can be quite pleased with his performance, especially considering that he was alone on the left side for the better part of the match.

I'd be very surprised to see Wes start at CB next match, O'Shea should move to CB with Gary coming back at RB. Wes was to be brutally honest piss poor today, and that's even considering that he assisted Ruud for the match winning goal and could've scored himself with just a little bit of good luck. He gave away the ball far too many times.

Next to Wes played Silvestre like he did when he first came to United. Often in the wrong position, struggling to win the ball and generally not looking solid.

At CM Neville and Keane were nowhere to be seen.

YEAH defense was the worst i have seen for a long time. reminds me of the days of BLANC AND WES BROWN AND THAT WAS TOTALLY SHOCKING. CAN"T BELIEVE THERE is such a big gap between Rio and brown. RIO WE NEED YOU

It was not only the defence but the middle of the park. I always say this and will say it again, phil neville does not give the team anything wot so ever going forward, and where was kleberson by the way???.

we were lucky today. very open game, we could have conceded 3 more , but could have scored 3 more.
whole defence was a shambles. don't think its fair to spotlight wes, cos o'shea and silvestre had worst games of season as well, and fortune just isn't a full back.
phil nev and keano were poor. can't remember keano giving the ball away so much. SAF should have played butty in the middle. he'd have closed down philips for 2nd goal - keano just stood back and admired.
we need a sound defence for someone to do something creative in midfield. ronaldo still flatters to deceive, and sorry, but just can't see what fletcher adds at all. SAf's given him plenty of chances now, and he's just not producing.
scholsey looked sharp, and vantheman and saha both looked threatening. didn't realise saha was so good in the air. good to see someone other than ruud jump with back to goal, and control the ball, holding off defenders.
really good debut from saha, better than i expected - i'd give him MOM.
saha and ruud could be a deadly combination.

Don't blame the defence too much, I think the midfield was completely overrun without the extra man in there.

We needed Scholes in the centre with Keane, or Nicky to come on earlier and shore things up.

We did win the match, by the way. :smirk:

Team looked pretty unbalanced today and Southampton did work hard. That combination led to an exciting game.
I think if we had played Phil Neville at Right back with Scholes in the centre and Fortune on the left we would have looked a lot better. Thought Saha had a good game and that the referee was poor.

Your right, Mr. Bungle. The distance between midfield and defence was also to big, the defence should have pushed a bit higher up the field.

good exciting game if you're a neutral.
I'll take the 3 pts but tbh Wes and co looked very shaky in th back. Howard came up with a huge save on that overhead kick but I thought he was initially at fault leading up to that opportunity.
let's not forget Wes has never looked like top calibre and today he showed it even more than usual.

I'm worried about our defence. Saha looked great - suprised me how good he was. And I hope to hell he keeps it up as we'll need it as we'll keep conceding at this rate.
Saha was MotM, imo.
