United Commercial Partnership Revenue

There are more Liverpool fans here in Thailand imo... Deluded feck too, claims that liking the kop has a classical feeling and they will one day return to be the kind of the field...

Also, the 30++ population will all go for liverpool ( As their dominance during the 80's... )
Around my age ( early 20's ) mostly there are probably the same amount of fans... Then comes the teenagers which usually opt for United as we've won more during the past years.

Honda have agreed three year deals with both United and Liverpool.

Any idea what its worth per year? Oh and apparently DHL are sponsoring our US tour, do we usually have sponsors for our tours or is this a new initiative by United? Are DHL paying for the tour sponsorship or is it part of the deal we already have with them?

There are sponsors. I have a ball from Kuhmo tires that someone threw into the parking lot from one of the little games they had in Philadelphia after the match.

I've seen it reported as being worth a ''seven figure sum'', but there's nothing more specific than that I'm afraid.

I'm pretty sure it's a new initiative to have DHL as our ''headline'' sponsor for the US tour. We'll still be involved in a number of commercial activities and events with other sponsors though. I'd imagine DHL would be paying for the tour sponsorship separately to the deal we already have with them.

Viva Kuwait scores sponsorship agreement with Manchester United

Kuwait Telecommunications Company Viva, held a press conference at the 360 Mall on Thursday, July 28 2011, announcing its official five season sponsorship agreement with the 2011 Premier League Champions, Manchester United Football Club, bringing local Red Devil fans closer to Old Trafford. Announcing the sponsorship, Viva Kuwait CEO Salman Al-Badran stated, "Viva is honoured to embark on this historic partnership with Manchester United, and very excited to kick-off the 2011-2012 season with an entertaining agenda full of promotions, activities and surprises for Viva customers, football fans, and most importantly, Manchester United fans."

Referring to the surprises, Al-Badran hinted that "Customers and fans can expect Viva to provide subscribers with a number of opportunities to win unique experiences during the coming season, including all-inclusive trips to great games at Old Trafford." "We will be launching a variety of new promotions and products and services, as well as offer gifts, host entertaining games, initiate interactive competitions, and set up mall activities to provide our customers with chances to watch the Red Devils on their home turf," Al-Badran said.

Nick Humphreys, Relationship Director at Manchester United, added, "The mobile phone industry sits on the cutting edge of technological development. Viva has some truly innovative ideas for communication with the fans of the club which will provide an exclusive collection of Manchester United-related content directly to Viva subscribers."

During the press conference, audience, the local press, social media, television stations and selected customers were happily surprised when Viva CEO Salman Al-Badran and Manchester United Club Ambassador and former player Bryan Robson kicked-off the first "Go To Manchester" opportunity and presented two lucky winners with tickets to the season's first home game at the Theatre of Dreams.

Mr. Robson, a true Manchester United legend, concluded, "There is no doubt about the passion for football in the Middle East. It is wonderful to see the club take advantage of these partnerships to communicate with fans in Kuwait and the world and bring them closer to Old Trafford stadium."

Viva and Manchester United have managed to engage in a great start to a promising and successful, five season sponsorship.

On the official site, the number of sponsors has gone down to 22. I'm guessing we'll be replacing the ones we've lost. Any news on the possible replacements?

No news as yet. If you include the Honda and Sirius deals then that's 24, 25 now with the Viva Kuwait agreement.

The two South Korean sponsorships (Kumho Tires and Hi Soeul) have expired and of course we already knew about Viagogo. Arctic Ice (Energy drink sponsor) are no longer listed on the website either which is a bit strange considering they only replaced Lucozade last season.

There's a rumor on twitter that we'll have a deal with DHL to sponsor our training shirts for £4m per year. Anyone heard anything about it?

We have an existing deal with DHL so surely it would be an extension of the deal already in place rather than an additional £4million?

It was in Sunday Times yesterday.

Various other sources have confirmed an agreement is in place. It's an astonishing deal if that figure is accurate. It would be higher than 12 other PL clubs get for their main shirt sponsor.

Our latest partnership. Mr Potato in Malayia.

Well that's the club's official anthropomorphic vegetable deal sorted then. Onwards to the negotiations for the club's official wheelbarrow handle-grips!

Manchester United today underlined its appeal in the Far East by signing a three-year deal with Beeline, a Vietnamese mobile telecoms company.

United, which is planning to float shares on the Singapore Stock Exchange later this year to raise money to cut its debts and develop its business in Asia, said the partnership would also include Laos and Cambodia.

It will give the club's legions of fans in those countries – it is estimated to have 16m supporters in Vietnam alone – access to United's goals, exclusive interviews and news.

Richard Arnold, United's commercial director, said: "Beeline is the right partner for us in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia – an ambitious young organisation which has already made a big impact locally in a short space of time. We know that this partnership will bring great benefits to both partners. We're looking forward to breaking new ground with Beeline."

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Manchester United has always been at the forefront of the game off the pitch as well as on it, and this partnership is another example of that.

"Everyone knows about the passion of our fans in that part of the world and this deal makes it a lot easier for us to keep in touch with them."

The deal follows similar partnerships for United covering countries such as Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic, Indonesia, India, South Africa and Malaysia.

Michael Cluzel, chief executive of Beeline Vietnam, said: "Football is the number one sport in Vietnam and Manchester United has always been one of the most widely-supported football teams in the world and Vietnam is no exception.

"We are very excited to be working with Manchester United on a range of activities that will be mutually beneficial and will bring this legendary club closer to this football-loving country."

Manchester United agree £40m (for four years) DHL deal

Aug. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Manchester United, the record 19- time English soccer champion, agreed on a four-year contract worth about 40 million pounds ($66 million) for delivery company DHL to sponsor its training apparel, according to two people familiar with the deal.

The contract is the first time any Premier League club has sold rights to sponsor only its training wear. The agreement is worth about half the 80 million pounds the team receives from principal sponsor Aon Corp., said one of the people, who declined to be identified because the accord hasn’t been officially announced.

United declined to comment on the report. DHL, controlled by Deutsche Post AG, wasn’t able to comment immediately.

The plan comes as the Premier League team plans an initial public offering in Singapore to raise $1 billion later this year, three people familiar with the IPO plans said last week. A stake of up to 30 percent may be sold, said one of the people.

Thanks to a series of sponsorship deals in recent years the team’s commercial revenue has surged to about 100 million pounds a year, bringing that part of the business in line with income from television and matches at United’s Old Trafford Stadium.

The club also plans to announce next month a sponsorship deal with Malaysian snack-maker Mamee Double Decker Bhd.’s Mister Potato brand, said three people familiar with the matter.

Manchester United Said to Agree on $66 Million DHL Sponsorship - Businessweek

:eek:Holy smokes. That's insane. That deal of £10m per annum surely has to include what they're paying us already to be a platinum sponsor, it can't be just for the training gear? Anyone know more? GCHQ?

Amazing how they do it.

Credit to the Glazers and all the team at Man Utd

A Chips partner in Malaysia, a new telecom partner in Vietnam & training shirt sponsor. I would say its been a good week for the boys in London.

And a lot more in the weeks and months to come I'm sure. Good timing for the $1 billion IPO which should give the club an enterprise value of over £2bn. Not too long ago a certain poster on here was widely derided for suggesting that the Glazers would only sell the club (or a stake in the club) if a valuation of over £2bn was achieved. ;)

Soon we'll have our goal nets sponsored by God knows what!

You have to give it to them though. They aren't sitting on their butts waiting for stuff to happen.

Rafael always has this smug smile on his face.

Good article this. Manchester United pave the way forward with £40m deal for their training kit - Telegraph

Despite having to make annual interest payments of £45 million to service United’s debt, senior figures at Old Trafford believe that the ability of the club’s 70-strong London-based commercial team in to raise substantial revenue highlights the strength of the brand off the pitch.

The DHL agreement ensures that United’s commercial revenue has now more than doubled to beyond £300 million since the Glazers completed their controversial leveraged takeover six years ago.

And with the £302.9 million, 13-year kit supplier deal with Nike due to expire in 2015, it is understood that the Glazers are confident of securing a new kit agreement worth in the region of £600 million within the next 12 months.

Similarly, Barcelona’s recent £125 million, five-year shirt sponsorship deal with Qatar Foundation has raised hopes at Old Trafford of an equally-lucrative package being secured when the contract with Aon, the Chicago-based insurance giant, expires in 2014.

Mental DHL branding of the stadium tonight. Couldn't get away from it. For those thinking it's worthwhile trying to sell "naming rights" for OT - we'd not get the value we currently get from the likes of DHL/Hublot/Audi etc with them.

Also from that article:

United have also announced a £3 million-a-year, three-year agreement with Vietnamese telecommunications company Beeline, with the club close to completing a similar agreement with the manufacturers of Mister Potato, a Malaysian snack, within the next month.

Very nice!

The Mister Potato deal has already been completed because their logo was on the advertising boards last night.

GCHQ, do you think we are right at the top of the curve in exploiting commercial aspects associated with the club? Are we reaching a certain saturation level or is there still a lot of potential without going into ideas like stadium naming rights? I think these regional based agreements are great revenue generation points and provide the best opportunity apart from the things already tapped.

May look awful but £10 mil for a tiny logo like that?. DHL have been mugged off. I was expecting to to be splashed over the front, back, sides etc etc.

No, we're nowhere near the top of the curve. I think there's absolutely frightening potential for further dramatic growth in commercial revenue. In short, we're incredibly well positioned to benefit from the ongoing shift in global financial power from West to East due to the phenomenal amount of supporters that we have in Asia and the Middle East.

The value of our platinum deals will rise sharply as those regions become more and more important for global multi-national companies. And then probably even more significantly there's the regional and territory specific partnerships (such as the Honda deal in Thailand) and of course the telecommunication deals where there appears to be pretty much unlimited potential for growth! I mean, no disrespect to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, but a three million pound per year telecommunication agreement covering those territories?! That's fecking scary.

I wonder how long we'll see the push for Premier League clubs to be allowed multiple shirt sponsors like lower league clubs and some european leagues have?

I think that will net us a crazy amount of cash as well.

I liked Tottenham's idea of having a different shirt sponsor for Premier League and Champions League games (unfortunately not a long term option for them though!). I could see us going down that route when the AON contract ends in 2014.

I think we just need to look at the New York Yankees as gauge of how much the upper ceiling of commercial deals. We are global. The Yankees barely stretch beyond the shores of the US yet they made US$450million in merchandise and with 40% growth in stadium sponsorship deals in 2010.

Long way to go to exploit the global United brand and to fund our team.
