United fans are protesting at Carrington

You really have no clue about of football is organised do you? The term "soccer" is widely ridiculed, but is actually a shortening of "association football". It's called that because ALL football is organised in associations, on national (The FA), regional (UEFA) and global (FIFA) level. By the rules, which are decided by representatives of all the national associations, nobody can start their own tournaments without permission from the associations. The concequence of doing that? You're expelled from the associations.

Even though corruption exists in football, it's actually a democracy. And without the associations, we would for instance not have the same rules all over the world.

As I said, this was a clear message from the top clubs to UEFA to cause a stir and reshape their current rules, I suggest you re-read my post. Big clubs are fed up with UEFA's monopoly and they created all this fiasco to cause a stir, why would UEFA all of a sudden start doing changes to the CL participation rules now?

I admire the effort and hope. It won’t get anywhere as We have been protesting since day 1 of the glazers reign and have achieved absolutely nothing.
but good on them for trying.

While I do agree with you, dark emperor, I think sustained pressure is also needed. Even small protests like today helps in that regard.

Small protests are a way of gaining momentum for sure, but as I say, protesting for owners to leave a billion dollar business is nonsensical. Even a victory there simply means new owners, maybe even worse ones.
Protest to the powers that be for reform, the sooner the better and ride this wave.

Read again. Football is football because of the organizations. FA, UEFA and FIFA. Every fecking person in football are members in these organizations. UEFA is not only a middle man or a tournament organizer.

Not sure if you're serious but this is headline news on all papers today and continues the momentum against the Glazers. This is only good, unless you support the Glazers.

I wonder what it would take to shift the Glazers. The green and gold campaign was huge and didn't do it. The "Red Knights" quickly disappeared when realising how many billions it would take to shift them.
Maybe they'll realise there is no extra cash available to them from the levels they already get, but most likely those amounts will keep them here.

Great job lads, the hope is for the local community to start the process and make it very public, the fans around the world all support the protests, we should use social media in all its forms to continue with the pressure.

As far as I know these changes were known of a couple of months ago.

Agreed. Hopefully this leads to perhaps a big campaign against the glazers, maybe involving some green and gold scarves?

Can anybody answer me this question? We protested against the Glazers last time and as we have seen with the super league, several different kinds of ownership wanted to be a part of it.
Campaigning against the Glazers to sell surely is nonsensical because we have no idea what owners would be brought in and surely no one thinks that Saudi ownership would be a victory?

The campaign needs to be about reform in football and needs to be a protest to the FA and Parliament.

I think we agree in most here. My view is that protests like the one today also puts the message out there to the FA and the government. Legislation for club ownership is the only hope.

Nobody is dismissing any action of the fans, but to disrupt the training process to relay a message is unnecessary. The fans did the necessary to bring down ESL as you said, so I think this should be enough for now. The games we have are way more important, playing in the CL next year is more important, winning a trophy this year is more important, this will affect how we shape up for next season, the ESL is not going through but all the competitions are still there and once we guarantee we have a place in those competitions we can rally and protest as much as you want, but it would be criminal from our side as fans to pressure the players and cause a rift now between players/managers/owners when the players have been working their socks off for Ole this year, this is why I am against these protests as they affect first and foremost the players, the Glazers are sitting behind their desks probably in the states or somewhere, our aim should be pointed at them not where the players are training.
I get you want us to finish the season strongly and obviously we all do, but I think it's important that protest is registered. I wouldn't want it disrupting training after this protest, there are other ways to make our voices heard, but this needed coverage.
Ultimately, our owners have shown they don't really give a shit about the Europa League, Champions League or Premier League. We knew they wanted to extract as much cash as possible from the club, but their end ambitions are now completely clear and that is why we need them out now more than ever. There are already stories about the next incarnation of the ESL being considered, so this issue is not going away.
It's unfortunate for the players at the 12 ESL clubs that they are somewhat caught in the crossfire, although the fans' loyalty to the players remains intact.

People calling for mass protests etc.

Yes, that will happen in time.

This is just a group of Utd fans making their feelings known and keeping the momentum going. Hopefully this first of many. Not every protest needs to be 10k+ in a car park.
Good comment.

like this you mean which they and the sponsors gave a grand total of zero shits about?

The FA headquarters and Parliament is where we should be directing our protests.
Firstly, the momentum needs to be kept and protests every day in news will keep that going. Even if they're small and insignificant they get headlines, and show that the amateurish working class people also matter.
Secondly, are you seriously comparing debt to destroying the sport of football?? No other clubs, nor media really gave a shit about our debt. Now all clubs of the PL and even the government want them out. If you cannot see the difference from a sponsor POV between imposing debt and fighting government and PL to steal football in front of the whole world maybe you should lean back and think for a while before you write.
As I've replied many times, I don't necessarily agree with that stance but there is a reason none of the supporters groups are behind it. And other things are in the works from those. It's about targeting the correct moments - playing devils advocate here but are you better to protest on a random Saturday non-matchday or on the day Liverpool come to Old Trafford for example?
The supporter and banner groups that are Glazer apologists and just went against a 93% vote of over 60,000 people to remove the banners just because of a Joel Glazer statement? As stated previously, this needs momentum. If no fans protest for ten days the Glazers and the sponsors will believe they've gotten away with it. What's wrong with protesting every day instead of just before a big game??

Spurs Fans who we often laugh at made a better effort. Proper signage made and more professional looking. Ours was an embarrassment in comparison, hopefully will be better on Saturday.
I posted though because, why annoy the players with this and distract them from their work. They had no part in the whole ESL fiasco and even played a big part in getting it stopped. Why protest at their training ground and set us up for a bad result on Sunday. Idiots!
Target the Glazers and the Glazers only!
Agreed.

If you're going to protest do it at the right place and at least look like you made some sort of effort. Why aren't MUST organising this?

So come on then mastermind, the glazers sell to Saudi, is that somehow a victory?

You do realise that several different types of ownership also wanted to be part of that super league? Socio owned, plcs, oligarchs, oil state, American Sports Franchisers.

If you sit back and think yourself even for a second you will realise that we need reform in football to prevent this.

And “destroying the sport of football” is rich and melodramatic, try asking at Dundee United or Celtic fan how he/she you feels about what the Premier League and Champions League did to football in his country.

Why cant all fans come together for a protest? Surely that's the next step?
We need to post solidarity on other fans sites, like (I know I know) Liverpool and Spurs and Chelsea. The Shed is good fun anyway.

Stupid protest, I agree we are all enraged but the team has a fecking game on sunday and needs to be prepared. Who cares about the ESL as long as all clubs pulled out of it now? People are being too dramatic for no reason, okay our voices have been heard etc but just get on with it. The Glazers part can be discussed after we finish the PL and hopefully win the EL.
Have an ignore

When did I ever mention Saudis? I'm sure we'll get someone other than them and Conor Mcgregor wanting to save the biggest club in the world in front of the whole world. If we protest every day until the end of the season I'm sure better owners will keep low-balling them til they give in when they're losing sponsors and battles with the government. I didn't expect there to be ESL apologists in here claiming it wouldn't ruin football as we know it. Mind-blowing really.

Of course we need reform like 50+1, but fishing for prospective owners like Jim Ratcliffe is also needed. We need to make use of the entire world hating our owners before they forget or stop giving a shit. New owners would have such a spotlight on them that I doubt the Saudis would ever get away with it.

How will they cope.

Hope they're well and the club books them a session at a therapist. Worried about how they'll cope playing at Anfield in front of 50k scousers yelling at them again.

Absolute mental how people expect to out the owners without causing any disruption to anyone.

Depends how many are satisfied now that ESL is a non starter, but still want to keep their owners.
Yes, but there will always be ahem, different views on a forum like this. The views that forced change were the more passionate voices, the ones who want the club back. This is the best chance ever (via where the media are at, the fan body generally, ex players and the government) to get rid of this particular bunch of owners or at least weaken their position massively, and in the long run to keep football competitive and the way we love it.

So seven seas is sure we will get better owners? That’s reassuring
You do realise that the new owners will actually be the highest bidders, not in fact someone that we have fished out and decided upon ourselves.

Think the owners have pushed people a bit too far this time. There was very little trust, now that has been blown out of the water.
