The players might not necessarily like him but they'd respect him and play for him. That'll be the difference with this manager.
We paid significantly more than that for Fellaini.
If the club replace Moyes, it will surely be with someone with proper European pedigree. They're not going to risk trying the same approach again - they'd look like idiots if it didn't work out. Klopp is someone who might seriously consider moving, given the limitations he will always have to contend with at Dortmund. If we could convince him, I don't think the club would mind paying money like that to make it happen. Better than splashing out on loads of top players to try and cover up Moyes' inadequacies.
So, anyway, somebody who knows, fill us in - what does the back-room look like under van Gaal?
Will he mostly:
A) Bring in fellow Dutchmen he's taken everywhere with him (if so, who)?
B) Promote from within (Giggs, Scholes etc)?
C) Bring back successful United men (Meulensteen, Queiroz etc)
D) Stick with the current bunch (Round, Neville)?

I just want the idea of van Gaal masquerading his balls in front of Rooney's bemused gob to become a reality 
I cannot take credit for another mans name. It is an impressive name that ought to be shared.
Think back to how good Rooney was at the start of the season when he felt like he had something to prove to his new manager. I can see van Gaal's acerbic personality being responsible for maintaining that over a much longer period.
I think he got comfortable under SAF towards the end (hence Fergie's leak about Rooney wanting to leave) and stopped giving a shit for Moyes like everyone else. That wouldn't be allowed to happen under LVG.

Get the feeling it will be him, the circumstances fit, and most importantly he probably won't demand a fortune to be spent which will have the Glazers crooning.
I actually don't think Van Gaal is the right guy long term, but I think he is more suited to a big job like this than Moyes and we'd finish higher than 7th and not limply go out of the Cups with him so I wouldn't mind for now.
Funnily enough I think in the Treble season we beat every team we played at some point except for his Barcalona side, we had those two classic 3-3 games.

My opinion of him is he focuses on what he thinks isn't gonna happen rather than what will. Much easier to get those predictions right and makes him look more reliable. I don't trust him.
If he comes, really hope the rumours about DeBoer being his assistant are true. Would at least offer some continuity when he leaves/retires.

We know what he can do but whether it will be positive or negative will be the surprise. We could win the treble next season or we could end up 3 points above the relegation zone after christmas, like Barca did!

I'd love to see Stam or VDS maybe even RVN as one of his assistants.
Imagine Stam as an assistant. Mourinho and his clowns would shit their pants.
Being big and scary on the touchline won't cause fear in Mourinho. Being a world class assistant manager would.
That said, he will take it easy on the eye pokes.
He can only start after the world cup yeah? And he might want a vacation before starting as well? I dont think he's a very suitable candidate for that reason alone. Then there is his aversion to spending money/buying players. The summer transfer market is going to be very crucial.
That will go down very well with the Glazers, if he thinks he can get the team performing without spending!
The world cup will be problematic, I'm not sure who else we could appoint though. He will hopefully choose his assistant or a coach (meulensteen becomes an option) and then they will start with getting the team ready.
Very interesting stuff. The bit about keeping at least one of the past coaches especially [2:22]. One of the arguments being tossed around the discussion about Moyes getting rid of the backroom staff was "well, every manager likes to bring his own staff" (not turning this into another Moyes issue per se but his example is, after all, fresh in mind).
I think Van Gaal would be a very good option should Moyes depart. He has the pedigree and he's a good coach who advocates a modern approach to systems and tactics.

I don't know much about Van Gaal but from what I have read he should be an interim manager for a year or two to stabilize the club until a long term replacement is found.
Interim manager and stabilise are complete opposites as far as I'm concerned. Van Gaal worries me.

The Sun and Daily Mail(I know, I know) saying that he's more or less our next manager.
Surely when we are such a mess it's the perfect time for Klopp. He can do all his own work and build his own side. I think this needs a younger man than LvG. I do expect him to get it though, probably on a 2 year deal.

I trust the club this time round, I'm sure there will be a meticulous appointment process. If the club decide on van Gaal, I'm happy.
I really hate the thought of Van Gaal taking over, doesn't give me excitement nor confidence and isn't the future, he's what 62 or 63 ? Klopp is the only man I want here.
