We could be about to embark on the most bizarre period in the history of United.

Was just talking to my brother about this. I think van Persie figured out how to manage himself properly fitness wise in his last season with Arsenal and though the latest injury couldn't be helped, hopefully van Gaal won't keep him on like Moyes did in that Newcastle match.

Van Gaal was very careful with Robben's injuries. He did not start him half fit. If that helps...

This is interesting. Rvp on Giggs.

“I witnessed two team meetings as I came in a bit late," relayed the fit-again striker. "The one from the last game against Sunderland, and today’s game, were incredible. They were Sir Alex-esque.

I think Giggs as no.2 can put in one or two of those talks in the season.

There's been no Tweets about press con at OT. I doubt it will happen tomorrow.

Happy Van Gaal day everybody.

Amazing aint it?...People actually wanted to sell Robin Van Persie, one of the only genuine world class players we have. Like you said, mental.

That's not as mental as the folks who rate Rooney higher than him. Based on nothing I might add. Unless running around like a nob makes you a better striker.

In regards to Van Gaal, it has to be today surely. I'm getting worried now about this.

I've never understood that. Rafael is the other one that I don't get. They're probably my two favourite players these days.
Rafa has been pretty poor this season to be fair, i'm normally a massive fan of his.

In regards to RVP, he has been way way way off form this season. Admittedly he has been injured but Rooney has been much the better player this season. I don't think it is crazy for some people to have Rooney as their favourite. Personally I respect them both and if there could be a way to incorporate both players in our starting 11 i'd be very happy.

It's a complete myth as far as I'm concerned. I'd argue it all day quite frankly, it's pissed me off quite a bit this season. Rooney's form has been wildly inconsistent and at times, utter shite.

Robin has struggled with injuries (which may be down to Moyes depending on who you believe) and has rarely looked at his full-match fitness this season. Even then, his performances never dipped to the extent of Rooney's worst ones and he's still managed to get himself 18 goals to boot.

Thankfully, I imagine if it is Van Gaal to come in, he will recognise the better player quite easily.

So... Is today the day?

Van Persie looked as happy as a pig in shit in that interview.
Posted by a newbie, tweet today from Dan Roan, the Chief Sports Correspondent for the BBC:
Late finish at Old Trafford, 4 hours sleep, & now on the 0600 to Amsterdam to meet up with @nickwworth & @andrew_cropper

So, maybe today is indeed the day?

Rumours are the board are all doe eyed over the our love in last night and won't announce LVG until Sunday. Hope I'm wrong.

Ahh this is frustrating.

I figure it's a done deal regardless but I really want to see it being made official. Otherwise nightmares of Alex McCleish rolling up to Carrington will continue to occur. :(

For what it's worth, TalkSport are confirming United are to announce shortly, it's Van Gaal

Just seen that myself:

Will the announcement be in any way tied in with the NYSE, like Moyes' sacking was?

Yeah heard that Talk Bollocks like to get ahead of themselves sometimes.
