SSN said they have a friendly on Saturday and then they have 2 days off after that and it will all be announced then. So Sunday or Monday.

I believe it when I see it. I'm sorry I'm just really frustrated by all this. I just want us to get some quality signings in and I'm worried we're going to end up doing what we did last summer. :(

Will be furious if he is allowed to bring with him a brigade of Dutch staff and players. Will be an indefensible move as amateurish, divisive, and cowardly as Moyes' attempt to bring half of Everton with him.

I don't think there is any rush with the announcement. We all know that it is a done deal. Announcing it won't change much. It would just be telling everybody what they already know.

Though it seems pretty much nailed on with Giggsy meeting him in Holland, it would be good to hear confirmation of the appointment. Apparently they are waiting till after Saturday's international friendly with Ecuador. If it drags on after next week everyone would start to wonder. And also with the bids for new players. Some are probably waiting on official confirmation before committing to us.

The difference is Van Gaals team have been with him at successful clubs like Ajax/Bayern/Barca/Netherlands - He brings success to clubs he manages, why would we not trust him to bring his team with him? The team Moyes brought in had very little experience and were replacing top class staff United already had, it's completely different.

I don't it will affect our transfers. Woodward said in some sort of investor meeting today something like "we aim to get back to the Champions League and you will see that in this summers transfer window". Something along them lines.

I think any potential signings will be told who the next manager will be. But even if they haven't, I am sure they already know. It is not exactly a secret anymore is it?

I wouldn't be surprised if most our signings are made after the World Cup though. I am sure a lot of players will want to be going in to that with clear heads.

It's about perceptions though. The club is desparately in need of a boot up the arse, spomething that will tell everybody, not least the players, that we mean business and we're not going to dawdle around like we have for the last year. What we're getting is the opposite - the club once again shrouded in uncertainty and inaction.

I think it all just boils down to it being a World Cup year. It is complicating matters with Van Gaal still managing a team going in to a major tournament. I am sure it would have been announced if it wasn't a World Cup year or if Van Gaal was unemployed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dutch FA is asking us to hold off on the announcement and we are respecting that. I think they want full focus on this friendly on Saturday and as somebody pointed out above, when it gets announced the Holland camp is going to be swarmed with British journalists.

The season only ended last Sunday.

5 DAYS!

I wouldn't mind but in that time we've already put a £27 million bid in for Luke Shaw, sacked half the backroom staff, let Rio leave and Giggs has been in Holland with Van Gaal. What more do you want? Van Gaal will be announced when we are ready to announce it. Until that time you'll have to wait. In the mean time you can think back to how hard done by David Moyes was and all the injustices he's had to suffer.

Does it really matter about their nationality? Surely the quality of the player/staff is the important factor?

You are a parody account. There's no question about it.

If Moyes had been successful it wouldnt have mattered at all that he brought plenty of Everton staff in. It'll be exactly the same with LVG

I'm no fan of David Moyes in fact was against his appointment from the get go and predicted we would finish seventh under him. But you can't tell me the way they treated him was correct. I mean it was obvious from pretty early on there was problems within the setup. Certain players not acting like professionals. That mysterious person leaking stuff to the press and numerous other things. Then, he found out he was sacked by social media, which was caused by another leak. This wouldn't have happened under Sir Alex.

Probably because we would have been winning, with our old staff and a set of players whose respect he had earnt.

This. The quality of the management team is all that matters, not where they come from.

Wow...

Take a deep breath and stop insulting the guy who was busting his ass in every corner of Europe, almost 30 years to bring all sorts of huge clubs to absolute football top. Moyes doesn't even... How can you compare these two figures ?

Van Gaal's historical record looks like an encyclopedia with factual evidence of his hard work for success. If Louie would take United much earlier we would probably already have Robben, Strootman or even Sneijder.

The way we're handling this is pretty amateur.

It isn't though really is it? The Dutch FA don't want things to interfere with their plans, they are his current employer and we are being professional about it by respecting their wishes.

Monday it will be announced.

HE'S TURNING US INTO AZ ALKMAAR!

It does when Van Gaal has mostly had 10 seasons in the competition.

No it doesn't, you could be topping your group for 10 straight seasons winning 6/8 of your group stage games before losing in the first knock out round and your winning percentage still will be anywhere between 60 - 67%. If you have the same winning percentage over the knockout rounds, that's impressive.

Why are people getting their nickers in a twist over when we'll announce this? He's clearly going to be the new manager, just calm down.

People complained we got Moyes without a thorough interview process and now they're complaining that we won't announce this soon enough.

I reckon this'll happen on Monday. Monday = Van Gaal Day .

The sooner the better though. I have faith that Woody and co will wrap this deal up well before the World Cup kicks off.

Heynckes is another another with a ridiculous Champions League win %. 3 finals in 3 attempts in the CL era?

Just been speaking to a Dutch chap (who seemed to know his football, couldnt shut him up about it in fact). He reckons we're crazy going for a 62 yr old when there's such an obvious trend amongst the big clubs to put faith in young talent - Simione, Klopp, Guardiola - he has a point

Bayern Munich signed a 66 year old Heynckes in 2011, its not bad when the manager has a grip on modern football like Van Gaal does and has been actively managing his whole career. It is bad if you have to dust off a 70 year old Dalglish from a senior living facility.
