United vs. FC Copenhagen

i totally disagree we need ronaldo and gaz to have some sort of match fitness - 20-30 minutes will not do them any harm and it might give them that bit of extra sharpness for scousers

they wont be "lacking in match fitness" because they have been rested for one whole week!!!

esp ronaldo, who has played plenty of matches this season anyway

;)

Do you think that the England international  Kieran Richardson will get a chance from the start?

I think Ole and Scholes will be rested. Giggs, Neville and Ronaldo will get to start to further their fitness.

----------VDS---------

Gary---Rio----Vidic---Evra

Ronaldo-Fletcher-Carrick-Giggs

--------Saha----Rooney-----

It`s important to get a good result before the Liverpool game. It should be an easy game for our defence, so I am expecting a clean sheet. 3 or four goals will do our confidence good before we meet Pool.

Pred: Easy win, 3-0 Ronaldo, Rooney, Saha

FFS Fergie's obsessed with Europe, there's noway he'll rest anyone.

Rooney scoring twice

He needs to....the longer he goes without scoring the more frustrated he'll get...He did set up Saha's goal but he needs some goals of his own to get him out of his slump....

You don't know that 20-30 minutes won't do them harm. 1 minute did a lot of harm to Cech this weekend. Kinda weird statement if you ask me.

Anyways, I think if we come out with Evra and Ole instead of the Heinze and Ronnie, we can always get them in later, preferably when the score is 3-0 and they can just have some fun and not push themselves.

Anyways, obviously Liverpool is stronger than Copenhagen, and we are not in dire need of CL points. League points are a different story.

i'm hoping and expecting a result similar to Brondby

We'll beat them comfortably but at full strength they are a much better team than Brondby were. Defensively they are quite decent, but without a natural left back it will be difficult to do anything against our offensive - espacially if Ronaldo is playing.

With Liverpool coming up I expect us to make the game safe in the first half and then substitute some of our key players. Maybe we can make it three or four in the second but I'm not expecting us to hammer them like we did against Brondby.

1-1 I reckon

My preferred line up

VDS

Neville
Vidic
Brown
Silvestre

O'Shea
Fletcher

Ronaldo
Evra

Scholes
Solskjaer

This is the most probable line up

Neville - Rio - Vidic - Heinze

Ronaldo - Carrick - Scholes - Giggs

Rooney - Saha

Heinze is playing and Neville and Ronaldo are back in action!

I really doubt all of Heinze, Ronaldo, Giggs, and Saha will play tonight. Any source on this? You sound like it is not an opinion.

I wish we played this:

--------------- VDS ----------------

Brown ----- Rio ----- Vidic ----- Evra

Ole ----- Carrick --- Scholes --- Ronnie

--------- Smith --- Rooney ----------

Fletch for Ole ------- 56'
Richie for Ronaldo --- 56'
Saha for Smith ------ 67'

I doubt it. I`m pretty sure that SAF will want to start with a goalkeeper on the pitch.

Eurosport web ... usually a pretty good site for truth

Manchester United face FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford with Celtic tackling Benfica at Parkhead in the latest round of UEFA Champions League Group F fixtures.

Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the squad after missing Saturday's win at Wigan Athletic with the exciting Portugal winger looking a certain starter.

Ryan Giggs is available after his fine display as a substitute at The JJB Stadium but the group leaders are still without Gabriel Heinze and Mikael Silvestre.

"Heinze won't make it," declared manager Sir Alex Ferguson. "We're looking at possibly the Liverpool game [on Sunday].

"He's certainly doing much better today but he's certainly out of tomorrow's game. Ronaldo is hopefully okay and Gary Neville is a possibility.

"Silvestre's starting training on Wednesday with us, which is good news as he comes back from his long injury so that's really healthy at the moment."

Copenhagen have only a solitary point to their name thus far but showed their threat when dumping Ajax out in the preliminary round.

The Danes have some experienced figures in their squad, such as Marcus Allback - who scored against England for Sweden at the World Cup.

However, Jesper Gronkjaer and Andre Bergdolmo have been ruled out of the Manchester showdown.

Captain Tobias Linderoth, the former Everton midfielder, is also doubtful because his wife is due to go into labour.

I think Saha might get rested for this

I kindda hope not.
I've got this feeling that Saha's got a good chance of being CHL topscorer considering the goals he already has and the forthcoming matches.

I don't think we should underrate FC Kopenhamn. Apparently their full-backs are quite good and if Linderoth plays that adds a bit more to their defence 'cause he's quite good. At top of that, they've got Allback who's on fire. The dude's got some real fine moments lately.. I expect a quite fysical game (God please no more injuries to United)..

I also expect our United to win with lets say.. 3-0? Rooney, Saha, Giggs

Preferable line-up

------------------- vDs ---------------------
- Brown ------ Rio ------- Vidic ------- Evra -
-- Ronaldo -- Scholes -- Carrick --- Giggs --
------------- Saha -- Rooney ---------------

Bench: Kusczchak, Neville, Fletcher, Solskjaer, Smith

Fletcher for Ronaldo, Solskjaer for Saha

Looking forward to this!

Which means of course that it's going to be shite.

No need to worry anymore. I've changed the time of dinner to 6pm, meaning I will be able to watch the game.
