Valdes not invited to UNICEF Charity Dinner | Calm down it's for first team squad and coaches

And this is why LVG is getting more hated by the day. Disgusting in truth that he lets a grudge come inbetween a genuinely good cause away from the pitch.

Who invites people to this? I would expect this has nothing to do with football and the corporate would be the organisers? If valdes is allowed in our club's training (not sure if he still is), I doubt anyone in the club will have a problem in him coming to some event?

Why is this thread in the United forum? Mods please move it to the youth forum.

I think the really important part here is Ed Woodward's scruffy look! Always shave your neck!

United have handled the Valdes situation so terribly. Hope he can get a move in January.

Same. You can be certain that future Barcelona players who look to transfer to the Premiership won't soon forget how Valdes has been treated by United

Hardly big news, but even if there is some sort of club policy about only inviting senior squad players and Valdes technically doesn't have a number or whatever, this is quite petty and childish.

Depends on what Valdes have done/said to be honest.. Always two sides to a story, ripping into LvG is easy for his detractors.
That's true, but seeing as it's leaking into the real world (and has been for some time) a statement by the club rubbishing rumours and putting everyone straight would not really go amiss. Hate the LvG SAF comparisons myself but the big man got into plenty of personal stuff with team members in his time and there was always a quick resolution (if somewhat bloody at times) and a statement for the vultures (whether true or not) that normally drew a line under it for the sake and good of the club.

Why would we invite him? He's not seen as part of the club for whatever reason.

Indeed but at a charity event, you'd expect people to be in some form of forgiving mood.

To be fair, I think the club was annoyed by his Instagram post last week in which he wrote 'trying my best to be free' or something.

Nah it should show them that you don't disrespect the club that gave you a chance after a long term injury. Maybe this incident is unwarranted but Valdes can blame nobody but himself for being exiled

To be fair LVG has always struck me as a bit of a prick... so it's not overly surprising.

To clarify, whilst I did like LVG being our manager (now, less so) I've never properly liked him... if that makes sense.

It's not like this isn't justified though is it?

I'm not sure.

Valdes caused this whole problem himself by refusing to play for the under-21s. That's unprofessional and disrespectful towards the club and Van Gaal who had given him a salary and help with recuperation when he was unemployed and injured. Seems extremely hypocritical after that for either him or his wife to complain that we are not treating him in a classy enough way.

United has nothing to do with it. LVG is the manager and no club would go against the manager for a player

The club has everything to do with it, LVG is only an employee and if he acts like an absolute weapon, he should be put at his place. It's a charity for kids, why would you not invite Valdes? That's not just a trivial thing to do, that's the actions of idiots.

Valdes seems to be thick. I just expected a bit more class from Utd.

Maybe they're already well aware Valdes is a cnut.

There's more to this than has been revealed.

Van Gaal must have an incredible poker face to not show any sign that he wants Valdes out during the end of last season when he was selected. Even in a pre-season interview this summer he was positive about him.

especially now with Messi feeling like he could surplus to requirements.

Bummer!

Jokes aside, I agreed with keeping him out of the side, but this just so petty. We are a billion dollar organization, we should be behaving much better than this

So what happened to LvG's "total human being" philosophy? Regardless of whether it is between the manager and the player, it reflects very badly on the club.

Does everyone having a go at Van Gaal over this really think he set out instructions that Valdes should be specifically excluded from this event?

Surely it's much more likely that as one of our charity obligations, the first team squad was required to attend the event. Victor is not a member of the first team squad and as such, was not invited.

Would be interesting to see whatever players were and weren't there. For example, did Joshua Harrop's mum get on twitter to have a go after he was snubbed as well?

That's just petty from LvG. This situation has been handled terribly.

I'm sure LvG sent specific instructions to the club to exclude him. I mean, he is the worst thing to ever happen to United/Football/The Universe as well as a terrible manager so it's definitely possible.

Using an Instagram post from an out of favour players wife as another stick to beat the manager with. Christ

To be fair, we don't know what happened. It feels weird that we would let him in training and not elsewhere without a valid reason at the least.

This is exactly how I see it. I doubt he was actively omitted and I very much doubt Van Gaal is the one sorting out invitations. He's just nowhere near the club right now and as a result our PA's and Admin probably don't even have him on their lists.

He was only registered as a player with us this season to conform to EPL rules.

He's an employee of this club only by the fact he receives a wage, he has no other capacity and that's his own fault for screwing up a move we had agreed for him to Besitkas over personal terms. He's got nobody but himself to blame, he's not a Manchester United player.

Valdes isn't in the first team squad so not that surprising he doesn't get an invite.
And even if LVG personally made sure he doesn't attend, I have no problems with that.
I have little sympathy for him, we gave him a chance and he decided he's too good and bigger than the manager.
If LVG has decided to make an example out of him, that kind of discipline can only be a good thing to others, especially youngsters, in the squad.

We also allowed him to leave to go to anywhere outside of the EPL and no one wanted him / afford him. He seems more keen to sit and earn a wage for nothing than actually going elsewhere to play.

Finally some sense.

So LVG went out of the way to tell the person sending out the mails to not send one to Valdes? I doubt it but if its true then extremely petty by LVG. Surely he has more important things to think about than whether Valdes is going to attend the charity dinner.

Spot on.

Drama queens with an anti LVG agenda or just a need to moan about the club again need to look elsewhere.

I'm looking forward to the day when this Valdes cnut is as far away from our club as possible.

Not sure if LvG was involved or not, but it was pretty cheap shot from the club.

Yeah I don't see the big deal. Would he have even wanted to go? If I was him I would be glad I wasn't forced to attend; would have been awkward as hell.
