UEFA Champions League
El Madrigal
Tuesday 25th November 2008
KO - 19:45 BST

surely this time it has to have at least one goal in the match.
Hopefully to us.

Berbatov is definitely ruled out, I think we'll leave Tevez on the bench and have Rooney, Ronaldo and probably Park upfront.
Carrick, Anderson and Giggs in the middle unless Fletcher is back

a welcome distraction to be honest. Hopefully we get a good result and then we've plenty of time to get ready for city.

Obviously I'd take a draw here, but part of me would be disappointed if we did. Isn't it time that we went to a tricky ground this season and won?

Team should be...

GK: VDS

RB: O'Shea
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Park
CM: Carrick
CM: Anderson
LM: Nani

CF: Tevez
CF: Rooney

Subs: Foster, Rafael, Evans, Giggs, Ronaldo, Gibson, Wellbeck

All 3 games against these have been 0-0 so same again

I would like to rest Rio and give Evans a chance. I'm worried with Rio's latest injuries and it would be better to give him a complete rest on tuesday.

Foster
O'Shea Vidic(c) Evans Evra
Park Carrick Anderson Nani
Rooney Tevez

They've already lost 4 at home and drew 2, while they've only won 1.

Clearly it's not as tricky as it used to be with Ince in charge.

It was a tricky fixture because we haven't won there in almost a decade.

That's history, this is the present.

They are shite at home at present, and so it wasn't a tricky fixture.

i cant see us scoring with rooney & tevez in mermaid form and ronaldo out injured along with berbatov.

id take a goalless draw.

 not after what we saw today

You are wrong. We will thrash them 4-0 or 5-1 with a Roma like performance.

Welbeck & Manucho

either of them upfront with rooney playing off him

VidaRed, I usually love your posts and respect you, but I would certainly be against that. Both of them, while I agree has potential, I highly doubt they deserve to start.

While I agree Tevez had an awful game, it's still highly likely that Tevez would start up front. If not, even Ronaldo would be upfront.

But I can certainly see one of them, if not both, in the bench, instead of starting especially against Villareal.

Shit claim.

06/07 Blackburn 0 - 1 Manutd (Louis Saha)

Really? Is it in the league? I've read somewhere that we haven't won at Edwood park since the treble season.

EDIT: just checked it and looks like you're right

--- Neville --- Ferdinand ---- Evans ---- O'Shea ---

-------------- Rooney ------- Tevez ---------------

Subs: Foster, Rafael, Vidic, Gibson, Giggs, Ronaldo, Welbeck

Is Ronaldo available for this game? And has Neville gone into self imposed exile?

He's being a spastic for the sake of it.

Seems like he does it just for the craic in these matchday threads.

He knows that Tevez-Rooney is our best partnership available to us.

Im suprised no ones got the same lineup as me!

A good win away in europe is the confidence booster we so need. a draw will be enough but a win is vital in my opinion to get our confidence back ready for the tough games we constantly have.

I think those two would be much more likely to start our final Home match with Aalborg. First of all we have unfinished business with Villareal. Until we have confirmed our progress through the group then Fergie will not be willing to take any chances.

Reckon we'll see something a little different by the standards of this season.

Edwin
Rafael-Rio-Vidic-Evra
Fletcher-Carrick-Anderson
Nani-Rooney-Tevez

Subs: Foster, O'Shea, Evans, Park, Ronaldo, Fletcher/Gibson, Welbeck/Manucho

I think it is only right that Nani gets a game and also likely that Park may be held back for the derby. And with that kind of midfield it is more likely that we'll see Rafael feature.

It's almost a bit...retro you could say. ;)

---------------------Foster-----------------

--Neville------Evans------Vidic-------Evra--

--Park------Anderson---Carrick-----Nani----

----------------------Giggs----------------

---------------Rooney-----------------------

For an away European match, Fergie usually plumb for a 5 man midfield. Think Fergie will start with only Rooneh upfront alone. Giggs to play as asecond striker or attacking midfielder supporting Rooney with threading clever thorugh passes or wreaking havoc through the centre with his dribbles. Park and Nani to lend support from the wings.

I think we'll do an Italian job and win 1-0 in a totally unconvincing win. A goal from a setpiece header from Vidic

That team wouldnt score if it played all day.

I'd swap Manucho for Wellbeck, and Park for Fletcher, and end up with an equally unlikely line up that I'd quite like to see.

Villareal are there for the taking they were thumped 3-0 at home by Vallodoid yesterday. Definitely the shock result in Europe this week.

-----------Foster------------

Rafael---Rio----Vida-----Evra

----Fletch--Carrick--Anderson

--Welbeck--Rooney---Tevez--

Thats what I would go for if Ronaldo is out 2-0 to us, why not!?
