Weekend Football: 1-3/12/2012

Its been a good day of football so far and we have some crackers still left

Moyes has assembled a fantastic team at Everton. It's a wonder why he gets so many haters tbh.

Because while they step up against the big boys, they consistently drop points where they should e.g. against Norwich, Reading, QPR etc

If only Fellaini didn't feck up with that penalty decision Everton would've won. But then again, he did well pretty much throughout the entire game so no blame goes to him.
Great result, thanks Everton, thanks Moyes.
Now let's capitalise and go 3 points clear.

City dropping points as well as Chelsea. Good so far. Now we just need to get our three points

Arbroath held on for a replay. Celtic beat Barca, draw with Arbroath. That means we are better than Barca right?

Why don't more teams around midtable and bottom of the league have a extensive scouting network in Spain? Just look at what Laudrup brough to Swansea for less than 10m. No way you'll get that talent from within the PL for that kind of money.

Just saw the pen City got... Never a pen

There would be outrage if we got that.

Hold up. We lost against Norwich, and we have to play Reading soon, I hope you haven't jinxed the feck out of us there.

exactly, as i said earlier, especially with the new tv premier league deal kicking in and the financial issues in spain, english teams should raid la liga en masse.

if i were a chairman of a uefa cup side or lower in england, i'd have the bare minimum of english players needed and get everyone else from the continent.

When you see the likes of Henderson, Young, Downing, Carroll going for absolutely ridiculous prices it does make you wonder why more clubs don't look elsewhere. English players have always been overpriced, and the 4 I named are not very good.

1 win in the last 9 i believe.

game raisers, nothing more.

I'm not sure if it is game raising. We are unable to see games out against the smaller teams this year. If you have watched us this season or in the last of those 9, you'd see that we should have won at least half of them.

Spurs deserved to win, but 0 - 3 flattered us by quite some margin.

We got lucky with the 1st goal from Sandro: good strike from long range, but the goalie should have stopped it. Thereafter Fulham were forced to be more ambitious and we hit them on the counter, 'tho Fulham had a lot of the possession.

Defoe is in superb form. 12 goals in all comps so far, 9 in the Prem.

The players for some of the teams below the top are quality. Michu/Hernandez, Morrison/Yacob/Mulumbu for WBA, Fellaini/Mirallas, Diame for West Ham and you also have Berbatov for Fulham.

Are the top teams getting worse or is it more of a case that those teams like Swansea, West Ham, WBA can give any team a fight for the points?

Only saw the replays, so can't get a proper look-in.
But who was the player who assisted your second goal?
Was some pretty nice play by him.

Yeah they should be scouting, but let's be realistic it is unlikely every club would find such a bargain though.

Top teams have clearly got worse but the bottom teams seem more tactically aware and are increasingly showing greater capacity for keeping the ball.

The top teams are definitely worse. The whole Top Four monopoly thing that everyone used to moan about has been completely busted open. There are some very good players at some smaller clubs too though.

Arsenal today looked flat and uninspiring. Gone are the days of Henry, Bergkamp, Pires and Ljunberg tearing teams apart for fun. Chelsea are declining. Liverpool have a simply awful squad. United are good but not as good as we were.

Btw anyone else think that Swansea under Laudrup is more enjoyable than Swansea under Rodgers. They're passing the ball and also creating chances.

Definitely added something different to the team. Allen's move to Liverpool might have something to do with it though, seeing as he's completely incapable of passing the ball forward. Quite like watching them as well.

Well, it's not always as simple as that - look at how Rafa's Spanish signings worked out! For every Michu there's 20 players who doesn't perform/adapt well. Laudrup's system suits the Spanish players very well (and he knows their mentality having both played and managed in Spain for many years) which is no doubt a big part of the reason why the new signings have settled so fast and are playing so well.

Shocked with the way Arsenal are going. But knowing them they'll still be top 4 in May.

Seems to be a lot more emphasis on quick, counter-attacking football under Laudrup, which could be said to be more entertaining.

Watch how Allen played today. Quality in a more advanced role.

Yes but its because they have better players.

Chico has been one of the best out and out CBs in the league, Michu one of the most clinical forwards and the midfield including Ki and De Guzman give the midfield a much better balance than last year, even though Britton isnt playing half as well.

AFC Wimbledon's shirt sponsor is Football Manager, I like that, hopefully they beat MK Dons as well.

great strike yeah, gonna be difficult for Wimbledon now, they looked pretty good before the goal though
