West Ham United vs Manchester United

Midfield gets overrun (not really any surprise, Scholes/Carrick doesn't work this season due to Scholes bad form), Tevez plays for West Ham. Delighted with that point so far.
Carlton Cole should have scored though.

Scholes has been very good.

Like I said, pre-conceived notions that people just stick by regardless of the match, like people thinking O'Shea is constantly shit or that Park offers nothing going forward, when week in, week out that is consistently proved to be bollocks.

When West Ham attack it is clear that our central midfield's got a problem stopping them, Scholes and Carrick hasn't been in the game enough for me in key areas.

Despite the fact their entire defence is busy marking Ronaldo, we still manage to get no one in the box whenever he manages to skip past his 17 markers and get a cross in. And Giggs on the right is clearly not working, we have done absolutely nowt down that side in 45minutes

spot feckin on, so frustrating....

good point there, Smashed. Ronaldo is putting in some quality balls into the box, and with 5 players out wide marking him, you'd expect someone to get on the end of those crosses.

should get Giggs into the middle where he has played so well recently, which would mean Park coming on for Scholes,

Anybody watching the match would see we're not being overrun.

56% possession to us.

Some people have their mind set before the match on how the team or certain players are going to play and ignore the match itself.

Live by the sword die by the sword. Heed your own words. i'm not the only one you might find, that think United are second best in the middle.

Wouldnt go that far. Some decent passing, some awful shooting.

I thought his passing was a lot better than decent, created a lot of space with his short incisive passing and it's something I think we miss at times without him.

Same for Tevez, I reckon quite a few people will say he's been rubbish today but he's given us that bit of urgency going forward that we lack without him and we would've struggled a lot more if he hadn't shown that urgency.

Not one player has played badly today.

Vidic has been great as always I thought.

Did MUFCgal say Berbatov will score today? If not, someone prepare the Gods pictures...

Him and Carrick have a hard time stopping Behrami, Parker and Noble run onto our defence. I don't think he has been 'very good'.

As do most teams, but they've not been overrun.

Behrami's offered next to nothing going forward, as has Di Michele, Collison and Noble have provided some nice touches going forward but that's it, the only player to be dangerous all match was Carlton Cole.

If it stays that way then I'll be delighted.

Best forward. Ronaldo has been decent enough on th ball but as per usual,, the final ball or shot has been lacking.

And yet Scholes and Carrick have passed more than anyone else in the midfield, more than West Ham's midfield that have supposedly let us overrun.

Funny that.

Ronaldo's allowed to come in as much as he wants.

Rooney offers that different dimension to our attack, he rarely drops dep and always threatens in behind.

Disagree with both. Yes ronaldo does cut in but nowhere near as much as last season and not far up the pitch as he did. Rooney drops back quite a bit even though he gets forward a bit more this season he still drops back. Tevez is trying his best to get forward but he's just not that type of player and as a result there's no end product.

Would say we've been fairly unimaginative around the final third, partly to do with Ronaldo being marginalised on the left whilst being marked by 2 players and not having Evra overlapping - which might make it work. And Giggs and Rafael have hardly linked up. Scholes' passing hasnt been worse than many of our players, but none of them are really managing to open play up and he's the one with the most ability to do that. He's the one we're looking to influence play in that way.

Maybe not one player has played badly today. But neither has anyone played very well yet, perhaps with the exception of (dare I say it again) Vidic.

Berbatov started off really well but he's drifted out of the match in a big way.

Exactly, its feckin annoying. Berbatov will lay off a nice little through ball to Ronaldo on the wing, Ronaldo will somehow manage to avoid tackles from the entire West Ham first 11, their coaching staff and a couple of fans who are probably high on crystal meth, put a cross in only to find that Berbatov hasn't actually moved from the spot he played the pass from (obviously playing the pass was his full part in our latest attacking build up) and Tevez is probably somewhere at leftback, or in goal, or god knows where.

At one point after we made about 74 intricate little passes round the West Ham defence, even Vidic got fed up with this and somehow appeared on the end of one of our passes, inside the West Ham box and just smacked the ball in the general direction of the West Ham goal, as if to say 'look, this is how you feckin do it you inept cretins'

You should commentate. That was amusing.

yes we have been a bit too intricate several times this season. Lets hope we start shooting this half.

Is that because he's not allowed to, or he doesn't want to? He plays with the freedom he's always had, but whenever he's cut in or played through the middle he's been ineffective all season. He's intelligent enough to realise he's been more effective on the wing this season.

You just disagree because you want us to sign a different striker, not because Rooney actually drops deep.

Because it's clear as day that he doesn't any more, so much so that people complain he stays up top to much and they've been saying that for over a year and a half now.

passed what ... the game by ?

Look mate, if you want to have a go at me for past run-ins at least pick a topic that you've at least have a decent argument.

The ball, evidently.

Past run-ins? What past run-ins?

You're just jumping on the 'Carrick-Scholes are being overrun bandwagon', but they're doing as well as anyone would against West Ham at Upton Park.
