West Ham v Manchester Red

Here's the Carroll stuff. How long are they going to show that meaningless consolation he scored at Spurs for?

That's a great team. Jones is fast becoming the sort of player SAF just has to find a way to play.

Giggs in CM would be disaster.

Giggs played pretty well in his last game in centre mid v Reading - he was one of the better ones. Then in the previous game he was on top form v QPR as he led the team to a comfortable victory.

Disastrous. And of course the last two times he played v West Ham in centre mid he did this:

Peg leg tony must be running the show in training to keep starting every game like this.

Didn't he come on in the West Ham game and play on the wing? He's not really suited to starting games at CM. He would do a brilliant job on the left but putting him in a midfield two against Diame doesn't really make sense as he won't have the legs to cope there and his hollywood balls and fancy flicks don't really help us keep possession.

He played on the left but drifted inside a good bit. Was an excellent cameo that day! I seem to remember a crunching tackle near the corner too.

I don't have an issue with Giggs playing in CM against mid-table teams, although I don't think it really works against the big teams.

I think he's a great option to have on the bench though - in any match.

Giggs off the bench with 15 mins left is an awesome option. That's how he's best able to influence games IMO.

He came off the bench but he played centre mid and it doesn't really make a difference anyway. He can justify being in the team because of that kind of vision alone. "He doesn't have the legs for it" is just another way of saying "I have an irrational dislike for Giggs" because it's so easily refuted by distance covered stats. Being annoyed by his hollywood flicks is a much better reason to want him out of the team...but then it's a pretty silly reason all the same.

I think Cleverley is just a little tired after a long season of football. And will benefit from the rotation. I am sure the cut up and heavy pitch at OT through the winter didn't help. He looked dead on his feet 2/3 weeks ago. He's made a massive contribution in his first full season (last season was injured too much), so I don't think we can ask much more. I am sure he will develop further over the summer and next year.

I agree. I hope Cleverley is taking this time, and perhaps some time in the summer, to improve his strength and his stamina in the gym.

I'm nervous. Don't know why, but I am. God forbid what I'd be like if we were level on points with City. Maybe it's last season's implosion that made it worse but I always get jittery before games.

this will be a very tough game. Crowd will be mental as they always are in evening games. i predict a 2-2 draw

Why is it all so deep again? almost every player apart from RvP is within 20 yards of our goal.
