West Ham v Manchester United

Will be a slaughter i think. The Hammers are once again without Gabbidon & i think Anton and we will kill that defence. Might be Pardews last game following reports today.
I'm going for a high scoring game...5-1...maybe more...think this'll be the game we convert our chances.

is this team news for west ham definite?

Gabbidon is definitly out...and i think Anton is but not 100% on that. Hold on will go and try and confirm...

usually in these situations you have the new manager or caretaker whatever making sure the team does not lose...so they will play it tight...

but with a good rest and the way we are playing we should take all 3 points again..

Now lets bang a few goals in to make it a really miserable week for 'em.

totally agree. when a team sacks a manager, the caretaker usually manages to do okay in the next game. would still expect a win however.

not an easy game I think. if we go into it thinking like that we'll rue it. I'll be happy with the 3 pts.

Ditto

How the West Ham players will respond to Pardew's departure is an unknown. We could get an early goal and find things relatively easy or have a mighty tough afternoon on our hands. Either way, beforehand we treat the match and them with respect.

I know the West Ham fans still loves Rio, but what about Carrick? Will they boo him because he went to Spurs from Hammers, or will he get applause?

All these 4-0, 3-0 predictions. I hope the players aren't that complacent. It is a match like any other which starts at 0-0 and can easily become 1-0 / 2-0 to them if we don't treat it that way. We were in a good position compared to the cheats before the arse game and then what happened - we lost that and drew at reading and the cheats passed us.

It's not being complacent. Predicting a high score isn't complacency i just beleive that with West hams current defensive worries etc...not to mention there midfield problems & the complete lack of goals from there strikers we should come out well on top...I'd call it confidence.

Do you think Curbishley will take charge before or after this game?

Yeah, apparently the players have been told to expect a new manager by Friday.

Someone just told me that it's going to go through, officially, on Friday. So unless he was approached and given some notice of what was going to happen which is hardly unlikely, he could be sitting up in the stands watching on for this game, at least in the beginning. Curbishly will make himself known to the players of course, but the current caretaker manager will handle things i imagine.

We should expect a squad fighting for the favour of a new manager then.

Lets face it though even if they do have their new manager in by the time of the game Curbishley has a shite record against Utd, id only be worried if it was a new big name manager

We'll still get the 3 points

surely there is some sort of registration period for a manager that they would not be able to fulfil between friday and the game?

also, they won't want to further disrupt match preparations by bringing him in charge before the game. He may be in the crowd though...

seems like everytime a new guy comes in the previously shit team has tended to up their game, at least for the 1st game.
West Ham are going to be up for this, make no mistake. predict a hard battle and I hope we get the 3 pts.

(hope I'm worng and we stuff em though).

there is no way on this earth we will get out of Upton Park without knowing we have been in a game. The factors boyond any doubt will be.

Reo Coker will rediscover some of his form

Mullins will have a blinder

Tevez will get his first goal

Green will play like a fecking demon ;)

it doesn't matter does it. just the fact that Curbs will be there will be enough for those lads to up their game.

well, not in the famous 3-3 draw in december 2000. :) Great match.
Hmm... I'll rephrase:

Curbs has an awful record against United.

Yes, let's hope for a new 4-0 win for United against Curbs, like we did in the last game of the 2005/2006 season.

In 14 PL games against United since Charlton got promoted, Curbs led them to a massive 2 pts. 1 of which was the last day of the season in 2002 when we had nothing at stake.

How come we always catch these clubs at the wrong times! WH have history over us as it is :(

It's the easiest, cant lose, pre-match team talk any manager has ever had to give :( "right boys, what a chance you have to start a new era in style...." etc etc

agree totally, and after cheslkis little scrape through tonight....the signs may be looking ominous for this one

Or you could look at it as the new manager has just got a couple of days to implement a system and select players thus leaving his team disorganised and easily beatable.

1-3 for United
Rooney, Ronaldo and Scholes

Our guys were given 3 days off after our last game, put your feet or like Rooney pop over to New York watch a bit of basketball, come back to training nice and refreshed, I don't think West Ham will worry them.
