No, a long time to go before I draw any pension. My Mum (and my Dad when he was around) is living on the state pension.
Agreed. There are many criticisms to be levelled at Labour in their current guise. But blaming the opposition for the outcome of 12 years of Tory rule is beyond a joke.
It works though. Every day you hear someone on TV (usually with a voice that sounds like their mouth is full of pasties) saying that "Labour got shit everywhere". And it goes unchallenged, quite often whilst a Labour MP is sat there, floating slightly in their chair.
Then you find out where the oft used phrase "Labour got shit everywhere" came from and it brings you back to an event when someone got shit everywhere. After some digging online you stumble across a BBC article where it states that Labour were once accused of shitting their pants and letting the contents spill out.
So you do some more digging and eventually find an older Guardian article where a Tory MP has been cautioned for lying about an incident where he shit his own pants and poured the contents on the floor, then falsely claimed it was Labour's fault. And for a few weeks every Tory mouthpiece parroted the line much to the complaints of Labour members who asked very politely if the Tories would stop. But by this point only the Guardian was headlining the story as everyone else was focused on the latest scandal about a celebrity fecking a goat beside a giant tidal wave.
You do one final quick check and discover the original BBC article about the situation called "Unknown smell in Parliament. Unnamed source says Corbyn possibly to blame" and every headline on every news site carried the same story, knocking into second place the story about the moon being blown up by pirates.

I would vote for Mick Lynch if he started a political party. His handling of the government and media during interviews is a breath of fresh air.
Boris and Truss & co can't even be arsed talking to the Russian separatists to see if anything can be done to save these poor lads, never mind actually do anything about it. They literally fecking hate us. Truss for the pair of lads seems a fair swap.

It's the unusual mix of
1) He genuinely knows what he's talking about
2) He believes in what he's saying
3) He can just be honest and blunt and tell the truth
All extremely rare in politics now.
When you also add the fact he's funny and quick witted it's no surprise these career politicians with their generic media training and the vacuous TV presenters don't know how to handle him.

No, it's just the usual planned visit to avoid the difficult awkward scenarios. For example, he suddenly went to see Ukraine when stories of him offering his wife (gf at the time) the Chief of Staff job.
This visit is more to avoid the by-elections that are happening today, if the Tories thought they were going to win it I doubt he would be flying off to Rwanda.
Exactly, there is no need for him to be there in person, anything he wishes to say, he could say via Skype, so this is just needless extra pollution just to try to change the headlines in his favour.

A low turnout of 60% is dreamland for the labour right(It’s the only they would even stand a chance of winning imo).
Not that I'm sure it improves things but I think IDS was still leader.
It is even worse than that - IDS was leader until November 2003!

Had completely forgot about that, thanks. I recently finished reading Falling Down: The Conservative Party And The Decline Of Tory Britain. Overall it was really interesting read on the history of the party but tbh I did kind of skip the early 2000s section.
The polls are really all over the place at the moment.

Wakefield by all accounts will be a fairly easy Labour win. They were hoping for an absolute crushing win a few weeks ago but it seems to have eased off to just being a comfortable win, which is still good.
Tiverton, I just think the Tories will scrape a win. 24k majority is very difficult to lose in one go I think.

Looks like the Tories have given up on Wakefield. Now what matters is the margin.
What matters is that they don't get the jitters too much and bullet Johnson too soon hence recovering in time to win the next election.
Lib Dems briefing positively about Honiton now too.

That's a turnout of 39.09% compared with 59% at the general election.

Higher turnout than expected and par for by election standards. So much apathy towards politics these days
