Westminster Politics

Yeah, I agree. This won't do much political damage. His political damage will be done if we do not leave the EU on the 31st October.

Exactly. I feel like the more he winds them up the happier he is, because theyl spend too much time getting wound up by frivolous wording rather than actually grilling him.

Even there, feck knows if it will actually damage the guy. He'll just bleat about remoaner MPs and the courts defying the will of the people and people will lap it up.

This government is extraordinary. I don't think they could order a pizza without use of the "help".

Woman after woman after woman after woman has had to stand up tonight and plead with Boris Johnson to moderate his language for their own safety, and he just doubles down every time. What an absolutely hollowed-out human. Narcissism has taken it all.

Obviously should be taken with a pinch of salt, but I think it would do a lot of damage.

I hope you are right. My concern is that after a few more weeks of tabloids and Tory MPs pushing the blame onto everyone else, those numbers might start to shift again. It's hard to pin down a man who as the quote above puts it is an "absolutely hollowed-out human".

I mean, the state of this:

Let him blabber on but don’t let him goad you into getting an election pre Oct 31

Will someone wipe that smug off Priti Patel's face please.
The thing is, what does she have to be smug about?`

It's literally like a chav being smug to police to look tough in front of their friends. They just lost in court ffs  These people are pathetic and how anyone can still have any sort of respect for them amazes me.

I feel that a VONC, extension and GE declaration is the safest option.

I'm sure BoJo will find a way to wriggle out of the law (either by resignation, complete affront for it or some other hi-jink) and that would potentially leave the opposition with potentially too little time to react.

Labour MP Paula Sherriff just had a withering, emotional outburst in the Commons, saying Johnson should be “ashamed” of his conduct and that MPs had been threatened and put in danger, and should enjoy more respect from the prime minister.

The PM rebuffed her remarks with blunt indifference.

This from the HuffPost’s Paul Waugh:

Wow. Boris Johnson responds to an emotional plea by Paula Sheriff to stop using perjorative and 'dangerous' language like 'Surrender Act' (citing memory of Jo Cox and referring to new death threats to MPs), by saying her remarks are mere "Humbug".
Total fury on Labour benches.

Oh right. So the new tactic if you can't prorogue parliament is to to be such a complete cnut to everyone that they just don't come in.

Someone put an end to this tit and his gormless sycophants.

Watched a repeat of Cox’s performance. Considering the situation, he was ruthless

Our prime minister is being a cnut and goading if you don't like it get rid of me. That's what politics has become.

Boris Johnson’s performance today was a national disgrace. Unacceptable! No matter what your political persuasion is, this kind of behaviour from a PM cannot be condoned.

What's a national disgrace is the will of 17.4m people being ignored!

(Rinse and repeat)

They’re all traitors in the parliament and high courts. Shooting is too good for them and Joe Cox was an ugly bitch anyway. Zieg Heil!!

Honestly, I mean anyone who backs Johnson should be ashamed of themselves. What is feckin wrong with people?!?! Even Thatcher will be turning in her grave.

I disagreed with pretty much everything Thatcher stood for but she was an excellent politician and respected the office which she held.

Boris is a charlatan. The sooner he is gone the better, though I fear another charlatan will simply take his place.

Jacob Rees-Mogg just promised “an exciting announcement” for tomorrow, and paraphrased the PM’s infamous “what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander” line - which originally referred to equal treatment of the Tory MPs who might vote down a new deal and the Tory rebels who lost their whip for defying the government a few weeks ago.
?

New Rupert the Bear tv series?

Government calling a confidence motion in themselves?
Or prorouge again?
I'd guess calling a confidence motion in themselves

If they do, it puts the other parties in a shitty position. Imagine having to vote that you have confidence in the jackass who was just found to have acted unlawfully by the highest court in the land

Such a bizarre situation all round. Government wanting to lose a VONC, and an opposition not wanting to pass it. We live in interesting times..
