Where do you expect us to finish this season?

I think, ultimately, this season might be a season or two early in terms of winning the title in all honesty. Mainly because of your squad depth, I think you'd need some really good luck with injuries and suspensions. But you never know, stranger things have happened....With a couple of Ozil like signings in the right areas, and a bit more squad depth, you'll be right up there over the next few years though. It looks like the money is finally there for you to now make big signings, so the future definitely looks good for Arsenal.

Yep, another out and out striker is required. I'm a bit disappointed we didn't sign Michu who would have doubled nicely as Giroud's back up and a Number 10 if needed. We need some good luck with injuries as you say, and we're not having it. Our medical staff are beyond hopeless but I won't rant about that.

I reckon you can aim higher then Michu. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a quality player, but I think for the type of money Swansea would demand you could probably spend a bit extra and get a better, more proven player. As for medical staff, I'd gladly swap ours for yours. Or anyone's for that matter.

2nd or 3rd.

Transition season hopefully.

Hoping Moyes will identify the deadwood and spend a shit ton next summer on 2-3 top, top players - something we have very rarely before though.

I don't think the talk of longevity when he was installed implies that he can do terrible in his first season (for the record, I don't think he will). If, super hypothetically speaking, we were to finish 5th or 6th I cannot see how we could continue with the same leadership. The team would seriously take a psychological beating, we'd be out of the CL, further doubts would be cast upon a manager who's never managed at this level before and it's not like it's comparable to when Fergie came in.

Moyes took over one of the biggest clubs in the world. Current champions. Added a midfielder of his choice. Selected the coaching staff. Has managed in the same league for over a decade. For me, top 3 is absolute minimum - and I'm not talking 3rd like Liverpool a 100 points behind the eventual winners...

Hard to say as most predictions will come on current form, which almost certainly wont say much about which clubs will be in contention 6-7 months from now.

I dont get this transition season bullshit excuse. If its a transitpn season why are we still seeing Valecia and Young and not Zaha and janjujas who cant be any worse.

We're only a few games in. Transition season doesn't mean we just throw loads of new players in at the deep end. He needs to assess the whole squad and decide where he wants to go from there. He's said this himself. Now we're through that shit run of fixtures I think he'll finally have a bit of freedom to experiment a bit. The likes of Nani, Kagawa, Januzaj, Evans, Rafael and Hernandez will probably be given a chance in these next 6 games and all of those will improve us.

I think he just relied on the experience, as Fergie often did, to see us through these big games.

How long does he need? Hes been our manager since June.

Possibly 3rd, City to win it by a mile.

Chelsea are my favourites for second and we will compete with Arsenal and Totenham for third.

Nah, I'm not having that. This wankfest over City is starting to piss me off, sure they played well against United (who didn't show up at all), but other than that they've been complete dogshit.

1. United
2. Chelsea
3. City

Fair enough but my prediction is not based upon yesterday's result.

I still think we are missing a creative midfielder, however on yesterday's performance if Moyes continues to play dogshit Young in our big matches we will really struggle and can only see us is the top 3 at best.

Out of curiosity, why do you think that?
Nobody has impressed me, City took one point away from home against Stoke and Cardiff, we took none away from home against Liverpool and City, it's nothing to be worried about. Our first 11 isn't as good as theirs, I think that was shown yesterday, however, the strength and mentality of a squad wins titles, and it's okay seeing Yaya and co turn it on for the big game at home, but are they really in it for the long haul? The results at Stoke and Cardiff suggest not to me. I've said this for a few weeks, but our worst result so far has been Chelsea at home, and that wasn't all that disastrous. Obviously the City game hurts more, but in the long run it isn't significant, if we can beat them at home then that means we haven't given them any points, and I'd back our squad over theirs to have the mentality to pick up more points against the "lesser teams", quite a lot more. I haven't mentioned Chelsea because I don't think Jose being manager is enough to mask over their deficiencies, in fact, I actually think it's going to go tits up at some point during the season.

Still on top. This match apart, City ain't in some blistering form either. Chelsea are still finding their legs and Arsenal will run out of steam near the end.

Based on Arsenal's 2013 form, how did you come up with the notion that they'd run out of steam 'near the end'?' They're on a great run of wins at the moment and the stability of a good manager like Wenger may see them be right up there come May.

This team and squad should be winning the title. I don't expect it, but there is a possibility.

City don't impress me, especially yesterday when their performance was largely based on United being that bad. None of their goals were carved out with incisive beautiful football, it was poor defending, sloppy midfield play and ball watching.

I actually think Arsenal look very good and it wouldn't surprise me if they ousted one of United City or Chelsea out of the top 3. Ozil has brought yet another dimension to an already very technically good midfield.

I think it'll be a point or two separating United and City at the top with something like 78-80 points.

I thought we would finish 3rd this season before SAF retired and im sticking with that

Ramsey is still inexperienced and they lack the depth in squad. They need Ozil to maintain his form till the end if they have hopes of title contention. The usual injuries will take their toll on all teams and Arsenal will not cope at the end.

But then, it's just a prediction.

I love this, "look beyond the results" Some of you people make me laugh you really do.

Especially considering that the performances were even worse than the results. Anyway the other poster explained that he thinks that because City hasn't looked convinced, but that's doesn't mean much if we have looked much worse.

Yesterday's game aside, we didn't look much worse. We've had some significantly tougher opposition and our performances against Chelsea and at Anfield weren't worse than what City served against Cardiff and Stoke. Everything's a bit twisted after yesterday's disaster performance.

I thought we would fight for 1st then, but when we got moyes, chelsea got mou, city pellegrini and arse got (or seemed to be going for someone like) øzil, I thought 3rd or 4th very likely. Opening games have made me more short term optimistic. Most likely 2nd/3rd, but not ruling out a win. Because we seemed to have built slowly from the back. Which seemed an obviously good idea until yesterday. And still does.

This isn't the first time we've gotten a pasting from one of our rivals and it won't be the last. We were beat 1-4 at home to Liverpool a few years back and still went on to win the title.

Moyes will have hopefully learned a few lessons from that and as difficult as it is to be positive after a result like that, you have to put things into perspective. With the fixtures we've been handed at the start of the season, a new manager and staff and our history of starting the season slow, it was always going to be extremely tough.

I'll stick with my pre-season prediction of us finishing a close second behind City, but lets not get carried away with our start. Titles are quite often won by the team that can consistently win the fixtures that they should be winning, and so far we have only had two (arguably three) of those and had 7 points from 9. Already this season, all of our competitors have lost matches that they should definitely not be losing.

If this squad can maintain the focus and mentality that has always been there, then we are the most likely candidate to pick up those points and that will see us go very close to the title again.

Top Four easily, and I don't see the likes of Chelsea or City running away with the league, so it's probable top three and in a title race late, although perhaps Arsenal make it interesting. The wannabe challengers, i.e. Liverpool, Spurs, et al, will fade per usual.

Ill probably go for 2nd.

I still think Spurs and Arsenal are some way off the top 3 and it's incredible we are only 3 points off City and Chelsea with the tricky start and shocking result yesterday. Title definitely not out of our reach but I wouldn't have us as favourites.
