Where the goals come from.
Anybody got any facts on Brown's lack of involvement yesterday?

I know he had a knock at the start of the month, but was on the bench for England against Croatia on Wednesday.

Behind O'Shea in the pecking order now? Rotated?

No recognised right-back on the bench either...

He must have been injured - no other explanation for not at least making the bench.

Also where is Park? Didnt even make the bench yesterday either

As Sharky said, Brown apparently got a knock while away with England, no point risking him after his injuries last year. And Park played in Korea the other day, we had enough players available that we were able to rest him.

No big mystery with either really.

What about Gary....I thought on Thurs Fergie said he was ahead of Rio in terms of fitness for the Spurs game.

Fair enough - didnt know Park had gone to Korea - for some reason I thought he had been training in Manchester all week

Fabio was on the bench who can play either side. Evans can also fill in at full back, as can Fletcher if required.

I'd expect him to be in the squad on Tuesday along with Neville. Pobably just rotation.

Surprised Brown got picked for the England squad given his lack of games for United. Maybe Capello likes him just like he doesn't seem to like Owen?

Wes is the type of player who can come back from injury and find form straight away (his position makes it easier also).

Owen needs games to find form and confidence - he currently has neither. I reckon Capello would pick him if he was in form. He seems like a fair manager.

Bump, again.

Not even on the bench again.

Clearly fit... played 90 minutes on Wednesdya and was redcafe's MOTM (does Fergis not read those threads?).

Officially 4th choice behind Neville?

No real need for Brown to be on the bench.

Evans provides the cover for centre back, and with O'Shea starting it makes sense to have a more attacking full back option on the bench (Rafael, Fabio or Neville) rather than Wes.

I think he is clearly down the pecking order and still needs to gain some match sharpness..

P.S Did anyone see the recent Paul Pogba article? The one in which his Agents tells the reporter that SAF gave his mum flowers and gave Paul a number 6 shirt with his name on it.. Got me thinking that..

Brown in 07/08 was one of the best fullbacks in the world. He's not being sold yet.

Urm except that he was nowhere near being the best Fullback in the WORLD! Also I didn't say that he would be sold nor would I like to see it happen.. I was just pointing out what had happened..

Wes was solid on 07/08, but I wouldn't call him one of the best full backs in the world. He's not comfortable enough on the ball for that.

Anyhow, he had his injuries and he'll fallen back in the pecking order. He'll have to work his way up again.

I think he is our best RB but O'Shea is doing well and has the place, so Brown has to wait for his chance like the rest of the squad. O'Shea wont be playing twice a week throughout the season, so Brown should get enough minutes.

I think it's really possible to see him in first XI today.

We play at Old Trafford, we really don't need to field our best team.

We should definitely play Vidic/Ferdinand vs. Grafite and Dzeko, they are both excellent strikers and might cause more problems than we actually think before the game. This game is important for our progress into the round of the last 32 and I'm convinced Fergie will field a strong starting XI to secure the three points. I personally don't think it's a game we can afford to give our fourth-choice centre-back much time on the pitch just to make sure he regains some fitness. Play him in the Premier League next weekend...

Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra.

That's what I think we'll see.

I haven't wrote I want him as a centre-back.

We wont throw in Wesley at RB i doubt, its O'sheas job to loose at the moment.
Just for one game!

But still, Brown has more to offer as right back, than centre back. In his form he's easily at the same level as O'Shea in his best form. With Ferdinand, Vidic and Evans he has no chance.

Guys this is getting incredibly frustrating.. It was atleast good to see him on the bench today..
