Why do the media keep claiming Liverpool are on par with City?

Liverpool have had a lot of breaks so far.

Mahrez missing that late pen at anfield.
Pickford dropping that 96th min clanger.
Equalising late on at chelsea.

Three huge game changers.

What happens when teams go on to win the league tbh. Steve Bruce in last minute v Sheff Weds anyone?

I've thought all season Liverpool would seriously challenge for the title. Have to say that Pickford moment convinced me it was their title to lose.

It got like this a few years ago though, all went their way, from stuff like Kompany slicing the ball out of his box, only for someone random to smash a once a lifetime volley in...

then...it changed. After we'd all accepted the worst!

Even if you reversed all 3 pieces of luck, Pool loses 4 points and City gain 2. So 7 pt gap is down to 1. Much closer race but Pool would still be title contenders.

I still think (hope) that City will win this. Frankly, they were much more impressive than Liverpool at the beginning of the season, although Liverpool are better now, and I doubt that scousers will be able to finish this season in the same style. City still have a bigger and better bench, which will be evident in the spring.

Fernandinho is a worry though
.

He had his best game for quite a while today. I lost count of how many challenges he won and his passing was on point, too.

So, yeah, good jinx post.

Not him, but the lack of cover for Fernandinho if he misses any game. Should've been clearer.

He's the one who most concerns me.
Cant see Henderson starting against him, Milner and Fabinho are more suited to trying to subdue him.
A lot will depend how much of his underhand skullduggery goes unpunished.
