Why dont we shoot from outside the box?

Shaw, Smalling... Who else?

You could probably come up with a longer list of players who've disimproved under him. Starting with our club captain.

Jones, Blind at CB, De Gea is much better on the ball, Young, Valencia, Fellaini became a useful player for us, McNair and Lingard have made their debuts and their future looks bright... Mata has also a very good goals/assists pg ratio too, better than when he was at Chelsea.

His signings also seem to have adjusted rather well in the PL, Morgan-Bastian-Darmian-Martial are all doing well, some in a new league and others at a new level of competition. Memphis started well but, since he was the only player with the ability to take on defenders till Martial's arrival, he had to carry a lot of pressure on his shoulders and he's being protected because he's not ready yet to lead our attack.

His huge feck up is Di Maria. All the players he kicked out of the club haven't done anything worth of notice in less competitive leagues or at smaller English clubs. I guess he must be doing something right, after all. Rooney hasn't been "exceptional" since 2012. He was pretty mediocre in Fergie's last season (left out of the starting xi in both games vs Real Madrid) and almost non existent since then.

If the players repeatedly shoot the ball into a wall of defenders then van Gaal has every right to be annoyed because that's very poor decision making. I don't think he'd be annoyed at all with players having a go when there's an opening for it. It basically comes down to the fact he wants his players to choose the right option.
On the weekend I thought we had several openings where we could have had a shot instead of trying a cute pass. These are probably some of the ones van Gaal was referring to as well.

Schweinsteiger definitely has a reluctance to shoot, which is odd thought he'd be really pushing for his first goal

Is it time for one last run for Darron 'Sharpshooter' Gibson?
