William Hill Offer - £50m for Predicting the Entire Premier League Table

You don't lose millions, just 2 quid.

Looks very winnable given you get two weeks to gage the promoted sides and any key signings.

You would if you tried to cover all other outcomes with the top 6 that was mentioned and then used loads of other people making lots of entries which was what was being discussed

To those of you who have posted your predicted tables, who would you feel if that's how it finished and you didn't put a bet on? I don't think I'd be able to stop thinking about it forever.

The OP has just given bettingoffers.co free advertising and commission linking that too. They'll get a small % from any new sign up's lifetime account value (of losses) as an affiliate.
You got me, I'm a paid shill.

Now, unrelated, but has anyone seen that new Playstation Vita? What a piece of kit.

I'm not even considering doing it for that very same reason!

If whoever wins it is from the Caf, they should share their earnings with us. It's only fair right?

I can't bet because of I'm from outside the UK. My prediction
  1. Chelsea
  2. City
  3. United
  4. Arsenal
  5. Liverpool
  6. Southampton
  7. Spurs
  8. Stoke
  9. Swansea
  10. Crystal Palace
  11. Everton
  12. Newcastle
  13. West Brom
  14. Watford
  15. West Ham
  16. Aston Villa
  17. Sunderland
  18. Bournemouth
  19. Norwich
  20. Leicester

Even if someone did win they wouldn't pay up.

Will Hill annoy me but I'm quite impressed with this idea for a promo. Would love to see their calculations behind it.

Stand aside gentlemen.. this is a job for me!
It would be actually funny if you win it. After losing every bet you have made in your life - including those with coefficients 1.01 - winning a pretty much impossible bet would be so funny that people would write a book or two on it.

  1. Arsenal

  20. Norwich
My guess.

Funny how many are placing us below the top 2 now theres money to be won.
It is only natural. Not just that it's more rational but there's the silver-lining side to it while having us winning makes it all or nothing. Last thing you want is getting to the last game of the season needing us to win for the league AND 50M.

Phase of Play is coming up with a foolproof, guaranteed success algorithm as we speak.

So at first glance, there are a lot of possibilities. (2.4 * 10^8 something)

However....

that is assuming any team can finish anywhere. If we can make some accurate predictions, we can reduce some outcomes. For example, let's eliminate Chelsea being the last team. This eliminates quite a bit leaving us with 2.3 *10 ^ 8. Then let's eliminate the possibility of Chelsea being second last and we'll reduce our outcomes a bit more.

We can keep doing this till we remove ALL outcomes that gives us Chelsea OR United OR Arsenal OR Manchester City OR Liverpool OR Totenham in let's say... the bottom twelve.

But even in then... the odds are really high. If I had the energy it would be easy to find a realistic chance. In any case, the betting site will make money (and A LOT of it)

Is it open for people not in the UK?

Entrants must be permanent residents of the United Kingdom at the time that an Entry is placed. Residents of any territory outside of the United Kingdom shall not be eligible to place an Entry in respect of the Game. Directors, officers and/or employees of William Hill are not permitted to place an Entry and in the event that such an Entry is placed, such Entry shall be void.

Just thinking about how the table looks at the moment, it will be a wonder if natural order is restored across the league by the end of the season.

Getting anywhere close to predicting the full table looks ridiculously difficult.

Ya, Chelsea pretty much fecked everyone over. They were surely 1st/2nd on everyone's list and by the looks of it they'll be lucky to get into top 4.

It's funny reading back through this thread the number of people who thought that they actually stood a pretty good chance of winning this just because they could guess what position a few teams were likely to be around, and how Chelsea, Newcastle and Leicester have possibly already fecked every single one of them over after 7 games.

It's hard. You could easily swap round all the teams from 10-15th, and anything could happen from 2-5th. Chelsea could randomly be shit, Van Gaal's philosophy might prove to be worthwhile as we win the treble, and Everton could be good again.

Who fecking knows! Very hard to predict. It'll probably be won by some extremely knowledgeable football analyst.
Nailed it.

That as well as the likes of West Ham, Leicester and Crystal Palace! just those four teams alone are a logistical minefield to place.

I mean, even if you took the current table as the starting point, putting the teams in order for the remainder of the season would be a fools errand.

It always seems astonishing that enough people are stupid for betting companies to make so much money. Until you read threads like this discussing betting.

It is very simple maths to see whether a bet like this is worth the stake. And you don't even have to do the maths, because William Hill have already done it for you. They're offering the bet precisely because it's not worth the stake.

And that is, of course, the case with all bets 'against the house', so to speak. The industry exists precisely because it is not worth your money.
