Willian

Didn't @Sigma say he liked Gerrard, or wished he had won a PL title?

Celebrating a Willian goal is a speck of dust in space compared to that!

He probably feels sorry for John Terry's slip in Moscow.

Oh, and no way is Young better than Willian. To see the 'real' Willian, and not the Mourinhoed Willian, one should look towards the Brazil NT or his Shakhtar days.

Willian is fantastic and at least a class above Young. But no wonder people dont rate a player that is sacrificing his own game for the sake of the team in the time where everyone is obsessed with statistic and end product.

Must be a wum. Sacrificing himself? Yeah, Ashley Young has totally not done that at all. I mean, all Willian does is run around a bit while Ashley Young plays all over the place and still does a lot better than him.

It's quite hilarious that many are praising Willian given the main criticism directed at Young is his lack of final ball. Bunch of complete hypocrites on here.

Free roaming defender in attack or a free roaming attacker there to defend...he is something. I don't get his role.

I wish people would stop with this nonsense. Mourinho is a dour boring cnut but he's not been telling Willian to miss easy chances, play shit crosses and create nothing for the best part of 3 seasons. Willian has always been crap productively. His Chelsea form is par for him, maybe even slightly better given he's playing in a better league than Ukraine.

Don't get me wrong, I don't rate Willian particularly highly. But he has definitely been neutered during his time at Chelsea. He is/was a different prospect elsewhere.

Willian is a better player than Young.
That said, there isn't worlds between them when played out wide, so to "prefer the one we've got" is pretty natural of a stance for a supporter.

Also, who the flying clusterfeck cheers on a opposition player?
We're all dazzled by Aguero's abilities, doesn't mean we didn't feel fecking gutted when he scored that goal.
Then again, some United supporters are Ronaldo supporters as well, so some romanticism with players is normal;
But an oppositions player who has never played for your club? That's a weird one.

maybe too many of us have really restricted ideas on what players are required to do, how they are supposed to play and where they are supposed to be on the pitch. Too much exposure to FM and FIFA has so many of us not seeing that football has a stronger element of "total football" about it these days.

Willian and Young are different players. Young has more end product, faster and direct. Willian seems to be creative and a good passer but a bit shit in the final third. Both players very work hard. I haven't seen much of Willian outside of Chelsea but i don't find it hard to believe he is much better than he's shown under Mourinho.

Young, Willian, ultimately two sides of the same coin. Good players, not great ones, neither of which should have any business starting for clubs like United or Chelsea on a regular basis if they are to compete for top European honours.

Yes there isn't much difference truth be told. They both work hard, I'd say Young is faster (or at least shows it more) while Willian is craftier/trickier. They both play solidly on the wing and track back.

I didn't say I liked Gerrard, I said that he should have won the league at least once with the abilities that he possessed.

I'm joking. But even that opinion is blasphemous to a United fan. Gerrard is/was Liverpool, like, its personification.

Weird op. He's a very meh player. He was a good attacking outlet at Shakthar but Mourinho has turned him into a very very average defensive type attacker. Don't rate him one bit.

I completely agree with you, and can obviously understand why, but its funny to see someone with a Real Madrid players as their username say that (then again, my name refers to a current West Brom player, so who knows?)

It's the company we keep then. I'm a fan of football first and a fan of Manchester United second. A lot of the people I mingle with all have a player or three in rival clubs they appreciate and enjoy watching in top form.
There's a huge difference between enjoying watching a rival player and being happy when they score. I love watching Silva, but I'd be fecking delighted if I never saw him score another goal.

He's playing well, finally some of the attacking threat that impressed me in he champions league before he came to England

Might have something to do with my favourite national team being Brazil

If he is available we should sign him and play Mata in the middle. Please Maureen do us a favor, fallout with Willian.

What about the abilities of his teams?

Oh I'm Norwegian, and started using this name on haxball instead of MrE in order to get out of goal-keeping duties and more offensively.
Since i was quite a newbie back then at haxball, i also figured it was a bit dumb to use an actual good player, but everyone I played with told me I had a knack for playing so a talent would suit me fine.
Hence Ødegaard name. (This was back before he moved to Real Madrid)

When you played in Redcafe's Haxball rooms, you were supposed to use your username on the caf as your nick in the rooms, so i had Damien change my nick on here from MrEriksen to Ødegaard.

Simply put, it's not very football-related at all. :P

YupYup. He should have. Which makes it sweeter that he didn't and the way he slipped to clinch it. Karma.

Did I mention team? I just said he, as a footballer should have won the league because he was a great player, purely on footballing terms. Whether that meant moving teams or not, I'm sure he will have some regret.

And you should have mentioned the teams, because football is a team sport, no player deserves to win something because he is individually good.

When did I say deserve? I said he should have, and Gerrard knows it.

So you think that he doesn't deserve it but should have? That's based on what, I don't understand?

I think clearly if you just look at his abilities ignoring everything else, you would have him at Manchester United in his prime. His prime was the same time we were winning the league, so if you would have him clearly he would be displacing a player who has won the league.

And also, all the X player has one more League titles than Gerrard clearly show that the general consensus of pretty much everyone is that he should have won the league but it's funny that he didn't because he was such a good player.

We won without him and therefore showed that he wasn't needed, the same for Chelsea. Gerrard could have won titles but to say that he should have won them isn't correct.

Why would it be a joke?
Why would any Utd fan in their right mind want Gerrard to have one a prem title. This is inferring that you want our biggest and most historic rivals to have won the premier league which is madness to me. Gerrard got exactly what he DESERVED by staying in that cesspit his whole career.

I don't I'm just saying that he, as a footballer had the abilities to be disappointed in himself that he didn't win the league.

I felt the same, but I suppose that he meant that with his talent he was good enough to play for Chelsea, Arsenal and United when they won.

Right ok in which case i misunderstood so I apologise, but you can understand how I reacted if you were saying that you wanted him to win :)

Scored twice for Brazil last night, hes the only one in this Chelsea team that deserves any credit really this season. Wonderful player!

Oh come on, really?. He is considered better because he is.
I'm a bit late to this, but Young at his best was a more effective, and much better player than Willian.

Willian's obviously the better player today.
