Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Manchester United

If hes fit to play a friendly hes fit to play a must win league match for us.....its wednesday he should be rested if theres any doubts over him whatsoever.

Why should Domenech give one bit of a damn about Manchester United? Evra should be well recovered for the next French freindly in May or whenever, at the moment he'll be forced to play at his very best against Spain, who you may not know, are a very, very, very good team capable of leaving Evra very tired and groggy in the training sessions afterward. Added to the fact Evra did pick up a knock in that final.

At the very least Allforone, United should be looking at what can be done in terms of having a backup leftback, a continguency for the AC Milan game and until one of the three fullbacks come back, if that means risking losing the game 7-0 which seems to be the formality that occurs by playing only 10 of the 11 so called strongest eleven, so be it.

At the moment if Evra does get injured or does need a rest, there are really only two alternatives to using a makeshift leftback ...going back to resorting to 3-5-2 and the more illogical one you seem to prefer ... kicking and screaming about "rotation" until the FA or UEFA delay the match. I believe United can win this game without Evra, you think United will lose if they play Neville instead of an injured Rafael, or a fresher Scholes instead of Berbatov.

If Fabio has shaken off his knock, I'd be confident in him to redeem himself against the side he got sent off against earlier in the season.

I was talking about Rooney....Evras fine.

SO you're saying now that resting Evra is NOT on par with conceeding the game to Wolves?

:wenger:

What on earth are you talking about now? sometimes i wonder what it is your reading, for the last time i wasnt talking about Evra i was responding to someone elses comment about Rooneys fitness, your the one who keeps banging on about Evra, Evras fine.

Jesus

Fair enough, I think England managers do protect some of their key players and ring a few changes anyway, what is it like 5 subs or something. I'd be highly surprised if Rooney plays the 90. If anything Berbatov should be rested, without Carrick United might go 4-4-2 and Berbatov travels to Warsaw probably will have to play 90 minutes and come back. Even Diouf travels to Greece. Don't know how Rooney's little strain affects things, but given he's playing for England in England, there's other's who will be playing longer and travelling longer who are higher priority who might need to be rested either during the game or from the game if possible (e.g Evra, Berbatov, Vidic) as well as those carrying more serious knocks like Rafael and Evans. I do think something needs to be done with regard the Evra situation, Wolves should be a good game to address it.

Code:
                  Foster

Rafael Brown Vidic Evans

Valencia Fletcher Carrick Nani

             Berbatov Diouf

SUBS: Kuszczak, Neville, Evra, Park, Scholes, Obertan, Rooney

You will trounce them. Rooney will continue to start (and score) until he shows any signs of tiredness (which i doubt he will).

wolves gave chelsea a scare
did well in their last game too

they dont score enough , but the way we have been defending , they will probably score a couple

we might need OGs to step up and be counted

Looked like he was taking it easy by Rooney standards against Egypt, probably one of the likely candidates to be rested during the game, rather than before it. I could be wrong.

Don't think we'll see any more than three from Park, Fletcher, Rooney, Evra and Brown starting, and the remaining three are prime substitute candidates.

If anything Resting Evra is a must, travelling to France, being given a hard time by Spain, other than Kuszczak and perhaps Corry Evans and other youth no one else travelled overseas and played 90 minutes. If anyone needs a rest it's Patrice Evra.

VDS

Brown
Vida
Evans
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Fletcher
Nani

Rooney
Berbatov

Subs: PIG, Rafel, De Laet, Gibson, Park, Diouf, Obertan

Evra and Rooney ought to start on the bench for this, could both do with a game off.

Give Diouf a start

Wolves at home won't be an easy game lads, be different if it was at Old Trafford, but they get a good atmosphere going. We should have a full strength team from the start, we can bring players off when the games won. With Chelsea losing, we can't afford to slip up here.

De Laet will start at LB imo.

Maybe, just maybe, Diouf upfront.

But other than that it will be a real strong team.

------------------VDS-------------------

Neville------Vidic------Brown---------Evra

Nani-------Carrick----Gibson------Obertan

------------Rooney---Berbatov-----------

Go a few goals up, try and get the game put to bed then take Rooney off. He has to start though, just because this is Wolves away doesn't excuse anything. This is a must win match for us, we need to keep on Chelsea's tails and keep ahead of Arsenal.

What do you suggest, gal, taking Rooney off at 3 or 4 nil up?

Proper mindfeck for Fergie. Valencia has been superb latelty and PArk has done very little to be droped.

Not to mention that Giggs might be available as well even if he is playing in a cast. Would think might want to get him some minutes before Milan game so he is an option. At least Nani got to play with Portugal.

Park finished 90 minutes against Ivory coast, seemed drained when he got subbed in the CC Final - would think he is most likely to sit this one out as Valencia didn't have a midweek game.

Some good news maybe:

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand expects to be back for tomorrow's clash at Wolves.

The England skipper can resume his defensive partnership with Nemanja Vidic when Manchester United travel to Wolves.

Ferdinand has declared himself finally free of the back injury which has cast a shadow over his preparations for this summer's World Cup finals.

He said: "This latest problem has only been a minor setback. It's just been precautionary, me not playing, to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

"But I'm fine now, no pain, so I'm cool.

"It was decided it was best for me to stay in Manchester and train, rather than with England."

With the injury to Owen i would be surprised if Diouf didn't get a chance in this game. He needs to show that he can be useful in the run in and this is the kind of game he could show what he can do. Don't want to be chucking him in the deep end, although even if we did the pool would just part and he'd walk out without a drop on him.

So, Fergie comfirmed Rio is back, while Evans is out. He's not sure if he'll play Rooney after playing 150 minutes last week on that Wembley pitch. And apparently Giggs won't be back for Milan.

I've got a feeling we'll see:

Code:

Rafael Vidic Ferdinand Evra
Scholes Carrick
Valencia Fletcher Nani
Berbatov[/CENTER]

This team except Rooney for Berba is what we are going to see against Milan and why do you want to play such a strong midfield against Wolves?

Team news against wolves

United have been dealt a huge blow as Michael Owen will miss the rest of the season.

The striker limped out of last weekend's Carling Cup final with a damaged hamstring, shortly after drawing the Reds level against Aston Villa. He was initially expected to be out for a few weeks, but Sir Alex delivered the grim prognosis on Friday.

"It's a bad blow for Michael and he's out for the season," the boss said. "It was more serious than we thought and he'll have an operation on Monday. It’s a terrible blow for the lad and disappointing for us, too. He never missed a training session all season. The heavy pitch at Wembley played some part, but it’s also bad luck."

Fellow striker Wayne Rooney is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Wolves following his exertions for England in midweek, while Jonny Evans is out after picking up an injury on international duty.

"We have to assess Wayne because he played almost 90 minutes for England the other night at Wembley, which I was disappointed in," said the boss. "When you’re playing on that pitch for almost an hour on Sunday and then nearly a full game on Wednesday, it's far too much. He's a doubt."

There was some good news, however, with confirmation that Rio Ferdinand is fit to start at Molineux. "Rio is back, which is good news. It comes at a good time with a big game against Milan next Wednesday," Sir Alex said. "Having the Ferdinand-Vidic partnership is a big boost in terms of the experience and consistency they've shown over the last few years. That will be important to us in the run-in."

The manager also confirmed that young striker Federico Macheda will start training with the first-team next week.

Because it's an away Premier League tie against a team that seem to have found a bit of form, plus we're still behind in the league.

I can't see anyone else taking part in midfield. Carrick will play as he is suspended in Europe and park will come in for either Valencia or Nani against Milan. I suppose it's possible Gibbo could come in instead of Scholes as Scholes will be crucial against Milan as we won't have Carrick.

wtf?

WTF just happened? How has the match day thread ended up in here?

Carrick will play for sure but I think we will play 4-4-2. It is important to have 2 strikers and attack or else Wolves will take advantage of just the one striker and push more bodies forward. Berbatov does not effectively take part in counter attacks. He starts it off around midfield and takes back, so we definitely need another striker (either Macheda or Diouf). I m hoping Nani and Obertan will start so Park and Valencia can rest for the Wednesday game.
