Actually don't agree with you if you take into account last match was 3 days ago, Guerreiro is injured, Eliseu is almost 35, and Coentrão is playing more now, Alves the same stuff replacing Fonte who actually since he moved to West ham has been worse.Coentrão AND Bruno Alves.
Having said that I would have called Paulo Oliveira from Eibar or Kevin Rodrigues from Real Sociedad, but Santos values hierarchies on the team.
Bruno Alves plays for Rangers. That should be an automatic ban from selection in itself.

Again, he has been playing now, Guerreiro is injured, this is international football, not everyone has to play on Real Madrid or in the EPL to be a good squad player.

The worst part is it's not even that bad of a decision considering who the other options are. I'm worried about Danilo instead of William too. Danilo always underperforms with the national team as William helps us control the matches more so today is going to be a huge opportunity for him. Other than that I like that Santos picked Gelson instead of Bernardo, it shows he actually takes into consideration what the players are doing for their clubs.
This is a huge game and I'm dreading it but hopefully our love for the playoffs doesn't get in the way of a good performance.

Coentrão instead of Eliseu is understandable but there's no way Bruno Alves should be starting for us these days. It's just depressing looking at that defense and knowing Pepe will be gone soon

I agree with everything you say, problem is atm we don't have center backs like Ricardo Carvalho, Jorge Andrade, Fernando Couto or Jorge Costa.
The alternatives are Paulo Oliveira (rejected from Sporting now at Eibar), Vezo (not consistent in La Liga), Semedo (another rejected from Sporting who will implode at Villareal), or Edgar Ié (who will implode with Bielsa), this is the painfull truth.
Having said that, I would be playing with Paulo and Kevin Rodrigues from Real Sociedad instead Eliseu or Alves, this and the fact we need Guerreiro recovered, lets wait and see mate.
