Imagine having Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain and Icardi on your team, yet only scoring 16 goals in 17 games.
Can't see Chile getting even a point in Brazil.
CONCACAF is a mess also. USA in a spot of bother.
My bad.
If they draw they need Paraguay to draw or lose against Venezuela at home and Peru to lose against Colombia. Possible but definitely unlikely.
They were very lucky Paraguay turned the game around in Colombia, at least now they own their fate.
It just shows that football is a team which is is often forgotten amidst the desperation to hype up individuals. You can have top players/individuals but if your team is a mess and dysfunctional you'll most likely struggle.Imagine having Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain and Icardi on your team, yet only scoring 16 goals in 17 games.
Thanks for that. Argentina have to win really. A draw means they are fecked. So close this group, even the goal difference. Why would FIFa want to give this up for meaningless boring games at a tournament. It is in German - but with the following link you can play the results at the last match day and see the results in the table

(you need to klick the right button with 18. Spieltag beneath the results first to get to the results for next week)
Else it should not matter that it is in German and not in English.

Vidal got booked and will be out for the last match in Brazil...
If we didn't learn that during the Beckham era Glacticos at Real, we never will.It just shows that football is a team which is is often forgotten amidst the desperation to hype up individuals. Or Leicester winning the league title whilst not having any great players but having incredible cohesion, team ethic and dedication/suitability towards the system. If we didn't learn that during the Beckham era Glacticos at Real, we never will.
Aguero, Icardi and Higuain are all CFs and Dybala hasn't been playing much, to be fair.Imagine having Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain and Icardi on your team, yet only scoring 16 goals in 17 games.
Still pretty sure Argentine will qualify and will be much better in the tournament itself.
I think so too. Going into the tournament with low expectations will certainly help them as well.Still pretty sure Argentine will qualify and will be much better in the tournament itself.
Won't happen. Argentina are like the South American England, always on the hype train.I think so too. Going into the tournament with low expectations will certainly help them as well.
GdIf teams have level points in the South American qualifiers, is it GD or head to head that decides who finishes higher?
Germany scored 38, Portugal scored 28, Belgion scored 35. England? 17.
Scored less goals than fecking Venezuela. There is just no possible excuse for that.Imagine having Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain and Icardi on your team, yet only scoring 16 goals in 17 games.

Ecuador at home is a different beast...they play physically...And dont forget Argentina and Brazil are two of public enemies to be beaten by other SA countries.
However, with the chance of playing Syiria or Aussie in the play off, there is no way that Argentina will miss the WC.
Syiria will not make it at Aussie. They need a win.
Argentina are actually quite unlikely to be in the playoffs (against New Zealand), they win and they qualify, but if they don't, there's every chance they go out.Ecuador at home is a different beast...they play physically...And dont forget Argentina and Brazil are two of public enemies to be beaten by other SA countries.

What are the permutations of Argentina not making it?
Bad management.Imagine having Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain and Icardi on your team, yet only scoring 16 goals in 17 games.
I can only image them passing the ball to Messi all the timePoor sod that will have to referee that Ecuador Argentina game. And the pressure of Messi to deliver is out of this world
That's exactly how every qualifier works for us with this sort of analysis starting with 4 games to go. Playoff kings of the XXIst Century. If they win, they qualify.
If they lose, they need Paraguay to not beat Venezuela and Colombia to beat Peru by a bigger margin than what Argentina loses by.
If they draw, they need 2 of the following 3 things to happen:
- Brazil to beat Chile by more than one goal
- Paraguay to not beat Venezuela
- Colombia to beat Peru or Peru to beat Colombia by more than one goal
If they win, they qualify.

Argentina win, they are not automatically qualified. They have guaranteed 5th place. Every other result for Argentina, I´d say 80-90% probability they are out completely.
