World Cup Qualifiers | October 2017 | Play off draw on Tuesday

Well he might have done it back in 2008 with better performances had proper rules been applied...

And for all the crying about our luck nobody seemed to care about our lack of luck in 2004 or 2012 either.

His European Cups were different - 21 matches, 8 goals, 9 assists. It is the World Cups in which he had his problems.

But what I actually wanted to do with my answer was to show that the same players that shine in their club and in the season often aren't the ones that are great in the World Cups. It does not even have to be that it is one of the big teams - there is new names at every tournament that shine - not the ones that you expect to.

You‘ve Lost fair and square in 2004. It was an upset, but not unlucky. In 2012, you were the worst team to make the semis and lost on penalties. There’s a degree of luck to that, but there’s no guarantee you would have won that final afterwards, far from it.

Agreed, a great World Cup is the only thing missing from his career and I'm expecting him to turn up in Russia. He was injured for the last 2 tbh but I agree with what you're saying.

There's never guarantees but we would have had a good chance of winning against that italian team in 2012. We lost fair and square in 2004 but we also won fair and square in 2016, both times the team that attacked less and had less chances won the final. It happens. Luck always plays a part in these tournaments, we had our fair share of luck last tournament but the opposite has also happened to us.

Hey, don’t forget that he lucked his way to an EC with probably the least convincing team performance ever!
Not our problem Low was more concerned in sniffing his balls than winning.

What, in 2012 we were the only team that made Spain have some doubts in reaching the final, just compare our performance vs them and Italy in the final where they lost 4:0, probably you know so much about football as Herr Schauble knows about economics.

Tbf in the first match between Italy and Spain on the group stage the italians played very well, 1:1.

They also knocked out a germany team that beat you in the group stage, strange post. You cant really extrapolate much from a one off match.

Strange post by posting the reality?

So he says we were clearly the worst of the 4, it would be the same as saying just because they beat us in the group stage they should have automatic presence in the final because they were clearly better than Portugal or Italy, guess what, football doesn't work that way.

They beat us in the group stages but a draw would have been fair in that game too. We were probably the weakest of the 4 semifinalists but we could have beaten any of them, if we had won the penalty shootout I'm convinced we would have won the tournament.

Without being controversial I don't agree with you that we were the weakest of the 4, regarding that specific tournament performance, that German and Italian team didn't played better football than us in the tournament, only Spain was clearly the better team from the 4.

Butthurt? I’m fairly certain Schäuble knows more about economics than both of us combined, and I at least hold a masters degree in politics. Just because you had luck in that one match to not go out before penalties doesn’t mean you were unlucky not to win the whole thing. Jesus, even the Liverpool fans are more honest about their 2005 CL win

Butthurt?
Who? You?
I’m fairly certain Schäuble knows more about economics than both of us combined, and I at least hold a masters degree in politics.
I don't care what you hold, did I asked you anything about your academic qualifications? And yes, Wolfgang Schauble is a economic iliterate who believes in the fairy tale of economic austerity being the only way to "recover" the so called "confidence" from the markets.

You don't need to "hold" a degree to know that is a blatant lie, nothing else.

Now for someone who "holds a degree", you seem to have some cognitive lack of understanding about what I mentioned, or else, maybe you are a specialist in fake news who knows? Maybe you can get a job with Trump?

I said, and I will repeat this only once, "in 2012 semifinals against Spain we were the team who made Spain have some doubts in reaching the final, not that we were better than them", right?

Care to explain where did I said that had anything to do with 2016?

The only thing I say and I will repeat to you the same, is that performance wise, in 2012 we were not worse than Germany or Italy, not saying we were clearly better, ok?

Now next time better try to "troll" with someone who doesn't watch football, and don't come here and try to preach to me your "superior" football knowledge and sense of entitlement, always respect your "opponent".

Nothing personal, just my opinion, maybe you catched me at the wrong time in the wrong place.

Do you believe in that kind of stuff? :D

First simulation I make it was Portugal - Uruguay - Croatia - South Korea, better stay quiet

Not really, just a bit of fun :D

As long as we avoid Spain, England and Italy I'll be happy. Last 2 World Cups we got Germany and Brazil so we need to get an easier draw this time around.

This time we don't have the United States, last 2 times with them in the group stage we were eliminated, this and the fact the only 2 WC where we reached the semis were in Europe, everytime we play away from Europe is a disaster.

Yup. We've played 9 major tournaments in Europe. 1 win, 1 final, 5 semifinals exits and 2 quarter final exits.

Need an easy group and round of 16 draw and I think we can keep that record of always getting to the quarters alive.

You disappoint me barros and we are not talking politics this time.

The only time i suffered as much as club level was in the Euro2004 final. Even so the biggest heartbreak was when we lost the UEFA Cup final against CSKA at home. Nothing comes close.
I was eating crabs and end up a bit drunk

Which team you follow since I saw you so involved with Catalonia but I know you aren’t Spanish?

So, how does a close game in 2012 means you were unlucky to not win that year? Oh right, not at all. And you had been worse than both Germany and Italy. Got nothing to do with 2016.

And what you „think“ about Schäuble doesn’t mean he doesn’t know anything about economics. I don’t agree with him myself. But his knowledge is so far superior to yours and discussion between you and him would be a monumental embarrassment for you; so, maybe stop mentioning him.

Who said unlucky? You?

Fact is if we got through Spain we would have a good chance of winning the final. Or not.

And yeah, you complained about your „lack of luck“ in 2012.
So was it me who said this quote
There's never guarantees but we would have had a good chance of winning against that italian team in 2012.
Or this 1.
It happens. Luck always plays a part in these tournaments, we had our fair share of luck last tournament but the opposite has also happened to us.
Embarassing to say the least, hope Herr Schauble is a bit more concentrated than you, if not Europe is in trouble.

The fact that someone like Pulisic is our best talent ever sort of puts that to bed. We do not need Lebron/JJ Watt type athletes to succeed. More than enough kids play the game in this country. The problem is if you are not from a privileged background or near a major city it is going to be hard for you to get access to the higher levels of the game in this country. Who knows how many kids fall through the cracks with our pay to play model.

Your pretty disconnected from the reality of American sports then.

The most boring group according to the new seeding rule could be
Russia
Peru
Tunisia
Panama

The most interesting could be

Brazil
Spain
Costa Rica
Senegal/Nigeria

First one is way more interesting to me. Last one will be down to Brazil - Spain, but with them both very likely qualifying, will probably be a garbage match.

What exactly did you win?
Argumentation, and talk about nonsense to your friends ok?

Nobody here is talking about no one, if you don't have sense of humour it is your problem, not mine.
