I’m hoping results go Scotland’s way, they could do with Italy winning here I think. They are going to have to beat Argentina by at least 2 to stand any chance at all though.
Jamaica more likely to score now, can easily go 2-2. Aus can't deal with Bunny.

Definitely wasn't a penalty.
Wasn't a penalty that.
Is Marta wearing lipstick? Don't think i've seen a female footballer use it during a game before.
I used to have no interest in Women’s football, due to lack of overall quality. It’s getting a lot better now, I hope it continues to grow
Italy 1-0 down, 40 seconds to go, get a free kick in own half, seemed likely last chance (as it happens, it wasnt). Six players and a goalie in own half/halfway area, four up against eleven Brazilians.
There's caution and there's CAUTION!
Just watched highlights... first two headed goals very good?Australia win 4-1 all Aussie goals scored by Sam Kerr.
I think Italy still top the group, Aus second, Brazil third - all on 6 points. All qualify.
didn't know group, makes sense now. Was just watching as a one off game... Italy v Brazil has a ring to it?Goal difference decided the group. Another goal for Oz, another one scored by Brazil and Oz top the group. Overcautious but the basic instruction is understandable at that stage.

There's caution and there's CAUTION! Playing for GD?

Interesting to see the philosophical consistency between the women’s and men’s game in Italy![]()
I think you’re misunderstanding my post. Just saying that reading that the Italian team was being cautious and playing for the result just felt oh so very familiar. Irrespectively of what others team do in this situation.Argentina - England was like that. Argentina were losing 1-0 but were still sat in right to the final whistle.

At the start of the tournament, winning Group D seemed to open up a much easier path for England to progress to the later stages than finishing second. The picture seems a little murkier now.
Whilst the Group D runner up gets a much harder round of 16 game (Netherlands or Canada), if survived, potential QF & SF opponents seem less tough than they will likely be on the Group D winner's path.
There's a big disparity between the two halves of the draw now. Italy won the group so now they have Norway - England - USA/France as the route as it stands. If they'd finished 2nd they'd have got Germany but then had a much easier route to the final. Not sure if anyone will play for the easy half of the draw though, I personally would though.
It's true of most of the teams, the European ones in particular. Spain pass, pass, pass - but could do with more goalscorers. England are learning to pass it out from the back. Germany win games, even when they're looking uninspired.
Inevitable really, coach training will be the same. Some of the coaches will the same. The younger European players may come from clubs like Barcelona that have the same coaching philosophy for all their teams, including the boys and girls youth teams. It's nice seeing the traditional national football stereotypes played out though.
