He is now a paid spokesman for his new overlords. I hope the blood money is worth it, you filthy bitch.

I can only talk positively of this country, which has placed a big focus on sports. For me it is a great place to be and to develop further in the long term with the sights set on the World Cup in 2022.

Previously we had to travel to matches the day before. Here the fact that you don't have to travel long distances is an advantage.

I also think that playing in November and December will allow players to reach the tournament in the best possible conditions. There are also stadiums already employing air-conditioning, so I think the conditions are here to make this World Cup a great success. It will be a benefit for the football players.

Well to be fair Xavi's he's a white rich heterosexual of course it going to be great place to live.

But yes it's a very odd thread title(@Americano You know Fergie said some pretty odd things about Qatar as well.).

The Welsh Xavi would never do this.
Mainly because he wouldn't be asked to.

Someone seems still pissed about not getting the 2022 World Cup.

Shall we test OP's self righteousness?

1 million US dollars for you to endorse something you don't believe in, with nothing more than a single line in front of a camera. Do you accept?

It's not the same thing, Xavi already has millions.

Nothing wrong with what he said. You can get your fix on hate when you get home to read your fresh copy of the sun and other genius articles in your tabloids tonight

I don´t see anyting wrong with calling Xavi out for this. He´s has earned millions of Euros during his playing career. He probably had similar offers from MLS. Post career he´ll always have a job at FCB, as a TV expert or consultant. So he doesn´t need the extra few bucks. If he decides to pursue a playing career in a country under close scrutiny for all sorts of human rights violations and criminal acts and blindly praises them, it´s only fair to call him out on this. Not that I´m surprised. Barcelona players always have been excellent actors.

That was disgusting stuff to say, Xavi. Instead of implying that you have a problem with the likes of Australia, the United States or Japan, say it out loud now like a man.

Fair play to Xavi for saying and doing whatever it is required for him to grab all he can while he can. I'd do the same myself and I'd imagine a lot of the do gooders having a crack at him on here would too if the opportunity arose for them to do so. Make hay while the sun shines.

I didn't say he's right, I was just pointing out that the OP sounded really bitter. As for his comments: an employee says some nice things about the people who pay him millions of dollars, shock..

 Seriously?

Read some of my posts, I don't want the world cup. If the entire tournament and FIFA itself have to be dissolved, so be it. I was so excited about Copa America 2016 and now with everything that's come to light I hope they cancel it. It pains me to think about workers dying to build boondoggle vanity stadiums. Xavi is taking money from FIFA and the Qatar FA, two of the most corrupt organizations in the world who will be directly responsible for thousands of deaths along with the fraud and racketeering. It's blood money from criminals. To come out publicly in support of those organizations, at this time, is sickening.

I am also amused at FIFA & Qatar just proceeding with business as usual, on their PR campaign... how stupid do they think we are? Everything is good here, Xavi said so.

So? Nobody said he can´t do it. Just like one can call him out on it on his BS. The difference betwen MLS and Qatar in salary is probably not even 2-3% of his career earnings. That clearly makes him look like a money grabbing person with low human standards.

I'll just call him a whore because I wish he came to the MLS so I could see him play...he still has something to offer....really looking forward to seeing Villa, Lampard and Gerrard play this summer :)

For all the people saying there's nothing wrong, you do realise just how many people have died so far, in order to host this World Cup, right?

 Seriously?

Oh, hell yeah! What do you think his complaint about travelling distances was about?

I'd suggest him to travel to those 3 countries more often and to observe their growing footballing culture before spouting even more crap about Qatar.

He is just using the only good point available, there is no digs here, only desperation.

I agree completely but hes not stupid. Hes in the twilight of his illustrious career and wants to go somewhere where he can maximise his earnings.

While he's there i dont expect him to say "it's a bit of a shit hole really and i hope the world cup is taken away from them"

But hey, they're great guys really. And who cares about how many people have died? The important thing is we don't have to travel to matches the day before anymore!

What Complete and utter sellout.

Xavi has just wrecked his good reputation.

I bet there was an extension Added to his house when he got home that night.

I just don't see how Qatar would make him earn more money than what was originally promised to Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka when they got into that bizarre thing known as Shanghai Shenhua.
